IN BUILDING INSPECTIONS

Building Inspection employing IR [Infra-Red] camera added an advantage of ‘Non Destructive’ methodology to detect defects where the differential temperature is able to be detected in areas of:

1. Blockages to plumbing and sewer works;
2. Electrical loose connection;
3. Water leakages to roofs, tanks and cisterns;
4. Energy dissipation and leakages in insulation, in Air-Cond and HVAC system;
5. Waterproofing;
6. Mechanical overheating;
7. Overloading; and
8. Other various defects that produce differential in temperature.

CHALLENGES

The core issue with such inspection is the inability to interpret the IR images that may have fell into the 3 core mistakes:

1. Misinterpretation of images;
2. Temperature Measurement Error; and
3. Not knowing the limitation of the tool [IR Camera]

CERTIFIED THERMOGRAPHER

​Training in this area, known as certified thermographic are categorised into:

1. Lev 1 – Qualitative
2. Lev 2 – Quantitative
3. Lev 3 – Certified Course Provider
4. Lev 4 – Master Thermographer

Currently there is no MS standard on this field.
