通書 - TUNGSHU ALMANAC

Picture

THE ALMANAC 通書

TungShu originated from HuangLi (黃曆, the "Yellow Calendar"), which legend attributes to the Yellow Emperor. It has changed its form numerous times throughout the years during all the dynasties; the latest version was said to have been edited under the Qing dynasty and was called the TungShu (通書). Tung (通) means "all", Shu (書) means "book", so Tung Shu literally meant "All-knowing Book". However, in Cantonese Chinese and Mandarin Chinese, the pronunciation of the word for "book" is a homophone of a word for defeated (輸), so Tung Shu sounded like "Defeated in All Things" (通輸). Therefore, the name was changed to TungShing (通勝), which means "Victorious in All Things"

That is the common crap as quoted by the Wikipedia. In truth, TungShu 通書 has 2 versions during the dynastic period. One for the emperor’s household while the other the commoner. In the olden days, transportation is not as advanced as today. It takes a lot of effort to distribute TungShu to the vast population of the commoner and it became rather pragmatic to actually localized production of TungShu by the commoner and such has been vested upon the shoulder of a small number of families that were responsible to produce TungShu for the public. Therefore commoner’s TungShu production became a local enterprise.

THE COMMONER TUNGSHU 人民通書

The common TungShu 通書 that we find in bookstores are GuangJing Tang 廣經堂 and YongJing Tang 永經堂 from HongKong. Both are the household names being led by the patriarch grandmaster Cai BoLi 蔡伯勵, known to have been the official FengShui master for Li KaShing 李嘉誠.  Yet, tycoon Li only employs him for general date selections. The master that put Tycoon Li as what he is today is the late grandmaster ChenBo 陳伯, another true lineage holder of YangGong Fa.  However, both of these TungShu from GuangJing Tang 廣經堂 and YongJing Tang 永經堂 are nothing more of TungShu for the commoner. Chinese metaphysics practitioners preferred another set of ThungShu specially crafted for date selections purposes. We called it Specialized Date Selection TungShu.

Picture

RED COVER TUNGSHU 紅皮通書

Specialized Date Selection TungShu are mostly produced in Taiwan and they are commonly called the Red Cover TungShu 紅皮通書. The common brands are liked ZhengFu Tang 正福堂, JuFu Tang 聚福堂, XinFa Tang 信發堂, LingXian Zhi TungShu BianLan 林先知通書便覽 and others. JuFu Tang 聚福堂 is the specialized date selections with emphasised on the 天星 position and location of the Yellow Path 黄道 in date selections, produced by Lu FengYuan 呂逢元, patriarch of the Lu lineage of FengShui family that specialized in date selections. As it is a not so common TungShu, it will only make sense to the disciples of this family. The Specialized Date Selection TungShu also comprises of the fixed entry and the dynamic entry. The fixed entries comprise of manuals of the art of divinations, date selections, FengShui and the sorts of Esoteric Chinese Metaphysics while the remaining dynamic entries that required annual updates are the movements of the 7 celestial bodies, annual natal chart for astrology, time and space and the common day to day classifications of auspiciousness and otherwise.
As with everything Taiwan, there seems to be a big Hoo-Ha when an entry in the TungShu Diary of the Red Cover TungShu indicated strongly that on a certain day, landslide and natural disaster ought to happen and it smack right to the nose of the Taiwanese that such incident did occur as predicted! Called it strange or meaningful coincidence?

WHAT IS INSIDE A COMMON TUNGSHU?

Since the Qing period, this sacred book has lost most of its truth, especially in the art of date selections. The remaining entries of the TungShu 通書 were added as time passes, thus as it is to date, we inherited with the sort of TungShu 通書 comprises of the fixed entry and the dynamic entry. The fixed entries comprise of manuals of the common art of divination, date selections, literature and the sorts of Chinese Encyclopedia while the remaining dynamic entries that required annual updates are the movements of the 7 celestial bodies, annual natal chart for astrology, time and space and the common day to day classifications of auspiciousness and otherwise.

THE PREFACE

The first few pages are the most common natal chart provided to give a glimpse of what to come for the coming new year. Read HERE for 2017 forecast...

A CHAPTER ON DATE SELECTION

A manual of Date Selection was inserted for the benefits of the commoner. It comprises of the assumed not so sophisticated method of date selections. In the preface to the manual, it states that 為九流之一, meaning the subject of date selection is one of the 9 schools of thoughts available at that time. It does not mean to say that what has been included in the TungShu is a method of date selection that is deemed to be the easiest at its lowest form - implying also DongGong date selection method is for "kindergarten" level.  九流, can have many connotations.  When people say, 讲一流,做九流, meaning what you say is of highest quality but what you do is at the lowest standards, 九流 here means a stigma of the lousiest form available. But it is untrue, where 九流 here implying 九流十家, the 9 streams of the 10 families of school of thoughts, philosophical schools of the Spring and Autumn and Warring States Periods (770-220 BC), viz Confucians 儒家, Daoists 道家, Yin and Yang 陰陽家, Legalists 法家, Logicians 名家, Mohists 墨家, Diplomats 縱橫家, Miscellaneous 雜家, and Agriculturalists 農家. The passage that comes after "is one of the 9 schools of thoughts", 為九流之一,  is  即陰陽家是也, meaning "namely YingYang School of Thoughts is this". How you translate these words also reflect how competent you are in understanding the text.十家

THE OTHER ARTS OF DIVINATION

The fixed annexation comprises of various arts of divination commonly found practice by the  masses to predict fortunes of new borns such as The Emperor's Body Part Methodology, 28 Constellations, Past Lives, Golden Flowers, Palm Reading, Face Reading, Occult, Phenomenology Prediction, Coin Tossing Prediction, Earth Deity Prediction and the famous, Three Syllabus Poem...

TUNGSHU DIARY

At almost the last chapters of the TungShu, it comprises of a Diary illustrating the concerns for the particular days including the ShenSha stars and compatibility for activities to be executed for the particular days including things to be avoided.

WHAT IS INSIDE THE RED COVER TUNGSHU?

Unlike the commoner TungShu, the Red Cover TungShu fixed entry comprises of the entire Compendium of SanHe and SanYuan date selections and  FengShui. That is the reason why it is called a Specialized TungShu not for the commoner but for mainly Chinese Meta physicist. All that is to be known about the art of SanHe and SanYuan are contained within minus the instruction of how each and every arts to be applied. For such you will have to enroll to the respective schools that they called, sect. These sorts of Red Cover TungShu will put to shame all those modern TungShu Diary produced by English speaking FengShui motivational Guru be it from the Big Sister Company or the Money squeezing Academy of chinese metaphysics (MsAocm). The question is, do you still hook on the craps, now knowing that there are better things available out there?

萬年曆 - THE CHINESE CALENDAR

The Chinese Calendar 1 - What You Must Know

The historical account of the Chinese Calendric sciences are both interesting and intriguing often laden with puzzles, hypotheses and dogmas. On one hand, it needs to account for the evolutions of the GanZhi 干支 system of Heavenly Stem and Earthly Branches while on the other, the all embracing system of Yi in the forms of Hexagrams and Trigrams 卦. As commonly understood, there are 60 GanZhi as opposed to 64 Hexagrams. So technically, a complete cycle of the GanZhi 干支 system may not match the complete cycle of the system of Yi in the forms of Hexagrams and Trigrams 卦. However through the centuries, there are many attempts to consolidate both systems into a workable model and through 3 generations of Chinese Calendars was born:-
1. The first was known as TaiChu Li or the Calendar of the Great Beginning.
2. The second was known as SanTong Li or the Calendar of the Three Concordance.
3. The third was known as SiFen Li or the Calendar of the Four Remainders.

These are models based on a LuniSolar attempt or the combination of:-
1. Lunar – Calculation based on Lunation of the moon around the Earth.
2. Solar – Calculation based on Sun path in relation to Earth rotation commonly known as the Yellow Path.

Where both GanZhi and YiGua are used. In Chinese Metaphysics, both GanZhi and YiGua are equally important: -
1. SanHe – Emphasis on GanZi
2. SanYuan – Emphasis on YiGua

Are these systems measuring the same Qi? What sort of calendar does the system employ? Better, what are GanZhi and YiGua measuring to? If one look at the SYSTEM itself, starts from 1 WuQi, 2 Slices of YinYang, 3 Components of SanCai, 4 Seasons, 7 Luminaries, 8 Guas, 9 Stars, 10 Stems and all through 24 sub seasons and 30 pairs of NaYin to 64 Hexagrams. How would one consolidate such into a meaningful working model?

Questions: -
1. Has any of  the basis of Yarrow Stalks Divination method has to do with calendric sciences?
2. Why would one group the 24 sub seasons into the group of three instead of two as commonly understood?
3. A trigram is made of 3 Yao (3 lines comprising the composition of solid or broken line). Why a Yang Yao (solid line) must take the value of 9 as opposed to Yin Yao (broken line) which take the value of 6 as the basis of measuring time? If these fundamentals are not sorted out, how would one understand the working mechanism of DaGua date selections and confronting SanSha? How would one understand the use of GuaYun and GuaQi? What are these units measuring to in the first instance?
Picture

The Chinese Calendar 2 - What Has Divination And Calendar Has In Common?

Using YiGua for divination purposes is a very common practice. The casting of the Hexagram is based on the age old practice of heating up the tortoise shell until it cracks to casting of the yarrow stalk, flipping copper coins by shaking the tortoise shell and the more up to date, iPhone Apps. These are techniques of seeking an answer from Heaven through a randomly casting medium such as yarrow stalks and tortoise shell which are believed to have contained spiritual Qi, LingQi. What interests me most is the fundamental basis of the Yarrow Stalk method which conceals the will of Heaven annexed to the numerology in the science of the calendrics. It cannot just be a random or simply numbers pluck from thin air. For example, why there are 216 divination sticks for Qian and 144 divination sticks for Kun? The answers can be found in the HeTu, LoShu and the Seasonal Nodes, the very fundamental building blocks of Chinese calendar. Understanding such one will continue to be puzzled that a simple method liked the Yarrow Stalks are beyond just mere superstitions of the commonly known, street fortune telling but also the basis of computing the rotation of the 7 luminaries as close to our modern astronomical calculations.
Picture

The Chinese Calendar 3 - Revisit HETU

Follow up from the Yarrow Stalk Method of Divination, the Classic says: -

“Therefore, it is stated that Heaven Numbers are 5, Earth Numbers are 5. 5 positions having obtained one another, each has a match. Heaven numbers 25, Earth numbers 30. Both heaven and earth numbers 55. This is that which having completed the alternations and transformations, sets in motion the Gui and Shen spirits.”

What it actually meant was:-

1. Heaven Numbers are 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 (Total 5 numbers)
2. Earth Numbers are 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 (Total 5 numbers)
3. Sum of Heaven Numbers: 1+3+5+7+9=25
4. Sum of Earth Numbers: 2+4+6+8+10=30
5. Total Sum of Heaven and Earth Numbers = 55
6. When it is correctly apply, Qi is in motion.

Such is apply, mainly in XuanKong methodology with a close relationship in the Chinese Metaphysics.

The Chinese Calendar 4 – Knowing the Year, Seasons and Days

A Tropical Year is calculated on the basis of the Earth moving around the Sun. The equinoxes and the solstices demarcating Earth’s distance, nearest or furthest away from the Sun marking the 4 seasons where the extreme Yin begins in Zi and the extreme Yang begins in Wu month.  Of the 4 seasons, the 24 seasonal nodes are referred to as solar markers. One season governs 6 seasonal nodes. Therefore, each portion governs 3 seasonal nodes, thus vernal equinox in spring becomes an important marker where wood Qi is at its optimum.  The Stables Qi is at its infancy (growth), the Cardinals Qi is at its peak (prosperous) and the Graves Qi is at its tomb (storage). These are the basis of SanHe’s 12 growth phases, measuring the “HouQi” or vital Qi which implies that influence between 2 gravitational forces at its strongest and weakest. It takes 15 days for a revolution of HouQi. Multiply by 24 seasonal nodes, a year contains 360 days. But our Modern Day calculation state that it takes about 365 1/4 days for a year. Would such make the Calendar obsolete?
Picture

The Chinese Calendar 5 - Ancient Time Piece

Picture
There is a reason that this portable ancient time piece is invented. Very useful for Yin FengShui Burial, Earth Breaking, Moving In and the sorts that related to date selections. Comprising of a Sundial and a Compass of 24 mountains resurrected by a back-piece to adjust according to the 24 seasonal nodes for solar casting, it is an expansive hand made tool, price around SGD400. Anyone interested may drop me a mail for bulk order. May even think of mass production using plastic casing. Come to think of it, when we are so accustomed to using the Solar Calendar to plot our Destiny Chart, what happened when someone said, it is more accurate if we use the Lunar Calendar instead? Well, then this very time piece will not be so important anymore. We need the water clock instead. By the same token, apart from issue relating to the intercalary, JieQi and Branches, the Lunar Calender is important for matters relating to the White Path of the Lunar Mansions as a contributory method. That is one reason why some old masters in HongKong is mocking about.
Picture

The Chinese Calendar 6 – HouQi, LiuJia and NaYin

Since Shang Dynasty, a 10 days week module was introduced, led by a particular GanZi making the 6 Jia (LiuJia) cycles of Stem and Branch. 60 JiaZi  obtained 360. Each  day is assigned to a JiaZi. HouQi is the Vital Qi measurement of the  resonance forces of nature. It is an interaction between stem and earth branch, some called  Acquired Melody. Although 60 JiaZi is individually unique, it undergoes its own YinYang resonance. A competent practitioner will able to discern its YinYang attributes  to determine its timing and its medium. Therefore, it is common to say there are only 30 pairs of Acquired Melody coincidentally give one a rotation of 360 per year. A rough idea to demonstrate such will be the resonance emitted from the interaction between Earth orbiting the Sun while the moon orbiting the Earth. The gravitational stretch among these planetary masses through the medium of water and earth “vibrates” creating wave liked effects liked “sound”. It is also known as penetrating “melodic” of the 5 elements as it has to pass on through a medium liked earth. Modern comparison would like “ultra-sound”, seeing the imagery through the lens of vibration. Therefore, the ancients equal it as Vital Qi. As to equate such Vital Qi with radioactive properties such as Radon is again, subject to debate. Although in ancient time, radioactivity is not so much apparent compared to the use of other substances such as mercury. That is one reason Vital Qi equals radioactivity may not be entirely True. So to speak spring begins in the arrival of spring may not necessary meant wood Qi has arrived. It has to wait until its vital Qi arrives and that is measurable.  So, 360 rotation a year compared with 365 ¼ days a year may result in 5 ¼ days off grids. So a certain devise to calibrate its differences is required. The question is what it is?

壬辰 RenChen 2012 Year - Eight Mystical Gates - 18012012

Out of the 8 Gates, Gate of Open, Rest (nobility), Growth and Scenery are the favorable doors. Gates here imply non-physical portals. It is greatly misunderstood that 8 mystical gates are actually doorways where one has to pass through in order to achieve something but this is not true. The 8 gates are only indicator of what sort of human actions appropriately undertaken given the situation. In the RenChen year, the annual 8 is perceived to be death. Does it means to say the 8 star is unusable? People with main door located at east and northeast will enjoy most with the auspicious star conjunctions. Otherwise, bed locations at these sectors will also do.  Saying thus there are other layers of information such as life palaces, house god, officer seals and so on to be considered concurrently to benefit most from the annual audits.

HUAT AH!

Picture

壬辰 RenChen 2012 Year - Flying Star Earth Plates - 16012012

PurpleWhite 9 grids have many dimensions to juggle and one personal favourite is the DiPan or the earth plate. The ThongShing states that LiChun beginning of spring, the three nobles, Yi Bing and Ding is located namely in Zhen, Xun and central palace. This is the monthly DiPan and when it is read together with the ThongLin or the Period Master, it foretells the conditions of all the respective 9 palaces such as: - Northwest & Southeast: Green Dragon Gets Together – When meet with benevolent combination, the auspiciousness will be doubled up. Vice-versa if it encounters malignant star conjunctions. West & Soutwest: XuanWu Earthly Punishment – Denoting contamination at a slow but sure degree. That is a reason even if the US economy were to be recover, it is going to be slow and with lots of setback. Notheast & North: Minor Wandering Structure – One may lost its way in a journey. Diversion is real. In the triumph economy of the Northeast, many initial objectives may be diverted. Lots of wastage in between especially time.  These are just surface readings and different schools have different strokes of reading. Next, we shall look into the 8 GATES.

壬辰 RenChen 2012 Year - Curing Malignant Stars 2012 - 12012012

One keen observer SMS me this morning asking: -

“…#9-1, #3-2, #8-7 looks like combination of 10, 5 and 15 respectively. Can it be read like this?”
The answer is YES. Isn’t it strange that XuanKong Classics spell otherwise? It is very common practice to plot the annual chart and read it thereof according to the interpretation from the classics that spelt out the 81 combinations. So, if let say the general consensus is to assume, 7,2,3 and 5 stars are the malignant component, the next logical question is how to “cure” it? First, attempt to see if there is any possibility of combining these malignant stars. #9-1, #3-2 and #8-7 are already a form of combination. If the structure is supported, the malignant star has already been combined away. No need to do anything. Second, structural combination of a continuous space. #2-7, #4-9, #1-6, #3-8 are HeTu combination achievable by amalgamating 2 palaces as 1 structure. This called for repartitioning of internal layout. However logic it may be, but one cannot be renovating one house come every 12 months? Thus, it is impractical. Third, not to provoke the malignant star such as 7,2,3 and 5 by means of earth breaking, dragging of heavy furniture or drilling and the sort. If everything fails, then only attempt to put placebo FengShui into action liked, wind chime, calabash, crystal and the sort. Something is better than nothing as the saying goes. However, the wisest way is to rope in a competent practitioner who is able to put the useful god into action by just taking care of ONE core item. The rest of the malignant stars will be beneficial. Always remember Flying Star methodology or Purple White has gained popularity in space constrained area such as HongKong, Taiwan and Singapore for a reason none other than fast and result orientated. The real practitioner does not chase after stars. They chase after the Gods.

壬辰 RenChen 2012 Year - Flying Star 2012 - 10012012

Based on the “Flying Star” chart which traditionally called the Purple White chart, annual 6 white enters the central palace. Portends power struggle #7-6, risk of water related epidemic such as bird flu #1-2 hitting the north, year of indecisive, scandals form top leadership #3-2, weakened economy and the “leader” is caught within, so on so forth…  The “infamous” argument star #3 enters southwest, #3-2 portends among others “bullfight Sha” which brings about a connection of numerous disagreement, scandals and gossips. Kind of worried for countries, in the southwest, which are run by Ladies. The “illness” #2 is at the north. #1-2 denotes water contamination which among other portends water related illness liked bird flu. The northern hemisphere is more likely to be at risk. The “timely” #8 wealth star is shining brightly in the west denoting a possibility of the West recovering from their economic crisis. However, its recovery takes time to heal and there is much groundwork to do before their economy is back on track. It only makes sense for Obama to investigate the US fundamental. Contrary, the “celebrative” #9 is in northeast. With the ongoing presidential election for Taiwan, booming economy for China, recovery post tsunami for Japan, these regions are in good hands. Similarly, the “flirtatious” #4 is at the east. #4-3 is actually the primary wealth location if you know how to use it with the “one”. #1 is in the south. Very contradictory. There seems to be a fire and water clash but in nature, fire and water does not clash each other. The south will bring wealth and career advancement. No wonder, it is said that the God of Wealth comes from this direction!

 壬辰 RenChen 2012 Year - Daily ShenSha - 08012012

The Chinese New Year arrives on 23 January 2012. However, it is still NOT the Dragon year yet! The Dragon will arrive later on 4 February 2012. Looking at the chart, the usable ShenSha such as Heavenly Virtue and Heavenly Noble together with Three Combinations are benevolent stars signaling the arrival of nobleman assistance. There is also the ShiLing star usable for those who are the adepts of the occults. Generally there are enough good stars hovering around for the day. The Branch luck indicating auspicious for rat, snake, dog, horse, tiger and rabbit. Neutral for monkey and pig while the other must avoid using this day for major events. Yes it sounded like the animal event in a zoo. Avoid making dress, grand opening, wedding, construction and planting.  It is also the first lunar month with the JiaZi of GuiWei, also NaYin wood with the auspicious 28 asterism Bow but has been tainted with the destruction as in the 12 days officer in charge. That is one reason why grand opening, wedding, construction and planting advisable to be avoided. Special note denotes the arrival of Spring Festival with the following specific instruction to pray to the following Deities, which is actually various body of Qi emitted from various auspicious direction of the day. The deities are as the followings: -

1. God of Happiness / TianYi Nobleman – Southeast
2. God of Nobility – East
3. 1st Joss Stick – Zi to Mao hour before sun rises
4. Angry God – Northwest
5. Five Ghost – Southeast
6. Door of Death – South
7. So forth…

壬辰 RenChen 2012 Year - Monthly ShenSha - 08012012

In the olden days, preparation for Chinese New Year also includes a peep into the New Year day per se. In this section of the ThongShing, it always starts with the month section. It states, Gregorian calendar January to February follows by the religious festivities of the Daoist Deities. Next, the lunar 1st month major signifying among others 31 days. A purple white monthly star is also included in the form of purple white with the accompanying QiMen SanQi locations. This section is usable for metaphysics purposes. It also states that LiChun beginning of spring, the three nobles, Yi Bing and Ding is located namely in Zhen, Xun and central palace. This will in turn enable one to locate the Door of Nobility and so forth. An entire list of benevolent and malignant monthly ShenSha stars is attached. There is a small section indicating the arrival of the sun as it states, the Sun at the current month, 28th day Wei hour enters the palace of Hai. Together it is used for date selections.

壬辰 RenChen 2012 Year - Heavenly Palace Bestowing Lucks - 06012012

神煞 ShenSha, Gods and Killing as its name suggests, comprises of two forms of real and imaginary stars with either benevolent or malignant natures. In this very page of the Almanac, the theme called Heavenly Palace Bestowing Lucks are a matrix of ShenSha stars arriving annually to the specific life palaces according to the 12 earthly branches. The mapping of these real or otherwise imaginary stars unto the earth Qi is a representation of a correct timing to undertake a correct human action. The task is often the question of what stars to what action, as can be as trivial as planning a vacation to something complex like marriages. As for FengShui date selection purposes, it spells nothing if the XKDG combination of 10 or SanHe NaYin does not empowered by the arrival of these ShenSha star as above but not as below. Some perfectionist may even walk the extra mile to match a selected time to a real time star chart, just to make sure that the real star is above. In the case of annual forecast, it is alright just to digest whatever being dished out on this very page of the ThongShing. Anyway, it is the basis of many writers chalked out their annual prediction called "the animal book". ShenSha stars like anything of antiquity comes in many names and may sometime referring to the same star. There are the main so called mainstream stars such as Heavenly Noble and so forth. Other auxiliary stars can be easily ignore or sometimes unheard of. Anyway, the rule of thumb is one benevolent star may offset against 4 malignant stars. So, start to count your stars. What happen if there is no benevolent star at your life palace? Holy Shit! No worry, lives go on. As people born in Dog year, this coming RenChen year brings no benevolent star but a whole load of malignant stars such as Leopard's Tail, Year Breaker, Major Fork and so forth. What one is going to do? There is the luck pillar and the entire 4 pillars to arbitrate liked clash away, transformed and so forth. It is not the end of the road. The lucky one with nobleman stars liked, moon, sun, monthly virtue, TaiYi, Dragon Virtue, Heavenly Noble, Duke Arrival and so forth has the extra push. Whereas Three Altars, Heaven Explain, Officer Seals, Jade Hall, Heavenly Delight, Elegant Seal, intelligence, Eight Seats, Auspicious Stars, Heaven Kitchen, Earthly Wisdom are all signifying promotions to power, wealth and nobility with the extra ingredient of being recognized in words and deeds. Sky horse denoting movements liked change of house, job or plenty of travels. Whereas all the fearful named ShenSha like lonesome, monastery, death god, funeral attire and the sorts are by nature means obstacle, lost of opportunity and petty people. Peach blossom, red chamber and salty pool are all related to love, lust and some extent nobleman help but these are neutral. We will not list the entire 12 zodiac here. If you need to know, email us HERE.

壬辰 RenChen 2012 Year - SanSha Affliction - 05012012

Where SanYuan concerns so much with the 5 yellow, Its counterpart SanHe concerns more with the affliction of SanSha or Three Killings namely Robbery, Calamity and Annual. In RenChen year, the SanHe structure of Shen, Zi and Chen conjunctions, denotes SanSha is located primarily South inclusive part of Southeast and Southwest. On a superficial level, it denotes that these locations must not be disturbed with any forms of activation such as ground breaking, knocking, dragging of heavy furniture or any sort of impact against the surface of the earth, wall and floor. Any mistreatment will bring forth disaster such as injury, illness and lost of wealth. Compared to 5 yellow, it is just teething problem. One incident we witnessed was a sudden drop in sales couple with mass resignation of stuffs and with unforeseen breakdown of machineries which caused the the entire line to stop and whole lots of problematic issues liked the sudden change of government policy resulted in the shortage of foreign workers to be employed as substitute. The list can goes on. Although the basis of SanSha is the relationship of earth Qi with respect to the other 7 luminaries, its effect is much felt during the seasons where it peaks undergoing the usual 12 phases of Qi fluctuations. Saying thus, it is more of a concern for SanHe practitioners and definitely, fighting it the SanYuan method may not be advisable let alone logical. The calamity of SanSha can easily be dealt with. Date selection is superficial and the pragmatic mean is to place the house into a desirable FengShui structure based on SanHe principles. This may turn it to be a blessing in disguise. People with Si, Wu and Wei in their charts may be prone to accidentally violate SanSha.

壬辰 RenChen 2012 Year - 5 Yellow Affliction - 04012012

The annual afflictions such as the 5 yellow, in the year of the water dragon 2012 resides in the Xun sector or SouthEast. This location shall remain untouchable. Any forms of activation such as ground breaking, knocking, dragging of heavy furniture or any sort of impact against the surface of the earth, wall and floor may stir the 5 yellow star into a malignant star. The curse of 5 yellow may bring death. It is not just the common injury due to minor fall or the sort which result in broken bones but morbidity arising from cancer, accident and in some extent, suicide. It is the most feared star in the pantheon of the purple white family. Traditionally, when a house sits 5 yellow, any forms of renovation are forbidden. When a house faces 5 yellow, any forms of ShaQi such as a broken mountain, pylons, filthy ponds are tell tale sign of a brewing health issue which may "kill" the entire family. However, in our cases, these may not be true. Just liked our case has demonstrated, a family renovated their house while it sits in the 5 yellow location in 2011, has no account of any tragedy whatsoever.Does it implies that sitting 5 yellow is less risky compared to facing 5 yellow? The problem is, our common understanding of what is meant by facing 5 yellow? An often misunderstood concepts. In both SanHe and SanYuan, door location remains an important point of reference. Although at some point, we take the door location as the main reference point for SanHe while the facing of the door as the main reference point for SanYuan, in practice one cannot be individually singled out one from the other. It is also thelocation of the door that justify the strength of the palaces in which the 5 yellow resides. That is why while some suffers from the curse of 5 yellow others had windfalls instead! What a conundrum! Any cure? The illusive XKDG LongShan XiangShui is another misunderstood concept. Can a shift in the door direction alter the facing direction of the entire building? It is as much risky as to say that 5 yellow can be fought using XKDG methodology we commonly understood. The best cure, is to leave it untouchable. In this coming RenChen year, care has to be taken if one has Chen or Si in one's BaZi especially so if it resides in the Day Branch. Similarly so for one who is of Life Gua 4 particularly elder female.

Postscript: Note that ThongShing or the almanac only indicates Xun mountain as 5 Yellow Killing direction which does not include Si and Chen mountains.

壬辰 RenChen 2012 Year - TaiSui and Year Breaker Affliction - 03012012

Annual TaiSui and Year Breaker are another form of afflictions as a result of the Jupiter effect. As size does matter, Jupiter imposed gravitational instability upon earth’s Qi. In a geocentric perspective, a TaiSui star was “invented” to account for the lost of Qi on the opposite direction to the Jupiter station. It is therefore also known as a counter Jupiter. Therefore, TaiSui location will be the same location with the annual Zodiac location and in this case of RenChen year, the TaiSui will be at the Chen location which is part of Southeast.  Whereas the Year Breaker is referring to the Jupiter station opposite direction of TaiSui and in this case of RenChen year, the Year Breaker will be at the Xu location which is part of Northwest. Year Breaker is a location of which vast amount of Qi is believed to have been accumulated but unstable. The Chinese are creatively enough to associate TaiSui as the annual Grand Duke Deity star appointed by the Jade Emperor to oversee the affair of mankind throughout the year, whereas Year Breaker is associated to TaiSui’s wife, SuiPo. This unfortunately has nothing to do with FengShui. You need not need any forms of PiYao or Talisman to ward off TaiSui. TaiSui is fine to be sited but not faced. Such actually meant to say, it is not okay to sit on Year Breaker location and face the TaiSui directly. It portends the potential of violating both TaiSui and Year Breaker at the same time. So, similar to the other afflictions, Year Breaker and TaiSui must be kept untouchable at all time. However, in real life application, this must be taken with a huge pinch of salt. A SanHe practitioner would understand that TaiSui for 2012 is not just Chen but RenChen. This imply that WuXu as the actual location of Year Breaker. Such is beyond the scope of the ThongShing (almanac) and applicable for specific FengShui purposes. Violating both of these afflictions may bring about troublesome glitches usually not resulting in serious health and wealth problems. It is one affliction that is easily to be kept at bay. Care must be taken for those who have Xu, Chen, Ren and Wu in any of the BaZi pillars. So, it is not just the Year pillar to be precised.

Also note that the following Year pillars are considered to be in sync with TaiSui: -

  1. XinChou
  2. DingChou
  3. GengXu
  4. BingXu
  5. JiWei
  6. WuChen

壬辰 RenChen 2012 Year - The Tale of Spring Cow - 03012012

RenChen Year Spring Cow Diagram is the illustrated information describing the general seasonal outlook for the entire year of 2010. When it appears to be in RED it meant to say RenChen is a Yang year. The Cowherd is seen to be at the rear of the cow which denotes this year is not a BLIND year. Chinese New Year (Cow) comes early before the beginning of Spring (LiChun), which is represented by the Cowherd. A blind year is understood that the coming Chinese New Year does not contain LiChun and therefore it is blind which denotes not a good year to have children, start a new business and so forth. Such often taken as marketing gimmick to promote placebo FengShui which is a waste of money. Luckily, RenChen year is not a Blind Year. Blind or UN-blind, LiChun will still arrive comes Feb 4 or Feb 5 every year and it is not warranted for FengShui makeover whatsoever. Specifically looking at the cowherd, he is a young man and not a child or an old man, representing the four graveyards of Chou, Chen, Wei and Xu year. He has 2 buns over his head behind of his ears representing the NaYin element of the year which in this case, water. His left hand is holding to a whip of 24 knots denoting the 24 seasonal nodes, coincides with the JiaZi of RenChen which is a Yang year. The string of the whip depends on the branch of the day of LiChun and in this case, Wei which is silk.He wears shoe and he is not bare footed, denoting the year is going to be generally dry. Quite opposites from what the BaZi of LiChun as predicted. He does not put on his hat denoting generally not a hot year capable of draught. However, there are other versions which account to wearing shoe denoting the NaYin of the day of LiChun which is metal. Generally his attire is also color coded denoting the element of the branch of the year. As time passes, it became more of general descriptions found in the passage called Mother Earth classics. By the same token, the Cow is color coded as well being black at the head, representing water stem, yellow at the body representing earth branch and black at the belly representing water NaYin for the year. Its horn, ears and tail denotes on the element of the Heavenly Stem of the first day of LiChun which is green, wood. While its knee denotes the element of the Earthly Branch of the first day of LiChun which is yellow, earth. Its hooves are colored white, metal NaYin for the day of LiChun. Spring Cow Diagram is used to relay information to the common peasant whom is generally illiterate during the time of the Chinese Dynasty. In our case as metaphysics practitioners, this information is too generic.

氣流 - QI FLOW

Picture
FengShui can never be an exact science. To be science, Qi has to be first observable. Yet, there are plenty of things that are not observable per se. For example, light, sounds, wave and so forth. Yet, these are science, material physics and so forth. FengShui on the other hand is bluff-ology, fake, superstition, meta-physics and so forth. When Qi is not observable, it cannot be measurable. Without a unit of measurable Qi, no quantifiable data could be established. Without such data, no hypothesis could be derived from and therefore, the art of manipulating Qi liked FengShui is therefore not science but meta-sciences, a more diplomatic way to say, it is pure bullshit. Yet, science itself has its expiry date. Thomas S Khun described it in his seminal work – the Structure of Scientific Revolution, by introducing the word paradigm shift.

By looking at FengShui, not as a science but a paradigm, GuoPu has this to say, Earth is the mother of Qi, Qi is the mother of Water and when Qi moves, water moves and when Qi stops, water coagulates. This is what he called FengShui. We cannot observe Qi but the Khunian paradigm prescribed that we could observe an assumption, that Qi has the characteristic of water. By observing water, we could observe Qi. Qi movement has since become the sole criteria of FengShui evaluation, as in according to GuoPu. Therefore, the moon, the sun, the Coriolis Effect, Bernoulli Effect and the sort are all the integral part that effect Qi movements.

These enable Qi to be observable. It brings the observer the pattern cognition, as in forms, spaces, solids and voids. In FengShui, Qi flow becomes the first manner to acquire, failing so, it is called bad FengShui. The entire corpus of YangGong through his writing such as YuChe Jing, QingNan AoYou and TianYu Jing are but the textbook telling you the precise paradigm of acquiring Qi.
Qi itself is universal. It is the same that make the entire universe tick, your heart beep and your blood flows, your organs rejuvenate, your plant grows and so forth. In FengShui, there is only one concern, the unit of Qi called ShengQi. Like anything in the universe, Qi has its YinYang.

Qi appears as solidify or fluid. Solidify Qi is earth, taking forms of mountains and when it moves liked the mountain veins, they are called dragon. Solidify Qi seems to be moving, therefore, fluidity in nature. They are Yang but yet Yin. To receive such Qi, you ride on it. Yet, how do you ride when the “horse-back” is relatively moving? You never ride a dragon. Textbook solution, would warrant you to search for one that is “still” and not moving. You will never find one! The real art, after Qi flow is to understand stillness and movement. This is rarely taught…

Qi that is not solidify, fills the universe. Yet, the text tell us that it is liked water. This unit of Qi fills your lungs. It require a vessel to contain. We coined it as tapping Qi. Liked a human being, the body is the vessel, the mouth/nose is the receptacle to receive Qi. In a house, as in Zhai, the mansions, the four walls form the vessel and the main door, receptacle to receive Qi. Would the windows or any aperture be of the same as the main door? That you will have to find out for yourself. There is no different between people acquiring Qi, NaQi with a house acquiring Qi. Only you will find teachers in the west advocating that ChangQi or riding Qi is for earth Qi, ShouQi or receiving Qi is for Heaven Qi and NaQi, or acquiring Qi is for Human Qi. If that is true, body odour also becomes a unit measurement of Qi. Liked traditional Chinese medicine, heat and dampness become another domain that is also rarely taught…

Coming back to the first principles, what made these restaurants such as DingTaiFung 鼎泰豐 and Go Noodle House 有間麵館 tick? The auspicious syllabus that they picked up from the 64 Hexagram to make up their brands? Each and every branch of these FnB retails embodied the pattern cognition, as in forms, spaces, solids and voids in FengShui as in Qi flow that becomes the first manner to acquire ShengQi. These outlets therefore enjoy good FengShui. Riding or tapping is only the way we prescribed the art. In reality, landform always come first, 理氣無真,巒頭無假. Forms allow Qi to be observed but how do you measure one? Interesting to note that thinker liked Nassim Haramein provoked one to think that sound waves also affecting droplet of water creating what is probably called, water's surface tension resonates in alignment with sound waves of various frequencies creating increasingly complex geometries through each harmonic until the structure eventually loses its coherency (Full video clip HERE). If sounds can influence water, by the same token, it can also influence Qi? Being, Qi the mother of water? Qi may moves because of wind? Sound, in this case? How does sound in Chinese metaphysics affect Qi? 五音, the 5 pentatonic melody? How to apply in FengShui?
Picture
The true art of FengShui is vested not only in the theory, but in application. How does Qi moves? Some says it vibrates, oscillates, spirals and so forth. What if Qi movement resembles the Golden Section? Anyone agree or disagree? If you don't understand how Qi moves, how do you draw a Qi map of a place? Worse, where to measure Qi? The recent clips showing how your Wifi spread in your house (full video clip HERE), demonstrated at least how Qi may vibrate, oscillate, spiral and so forth within the four walls or enclosures. It also shows the potency of the Heavenly Heart. Someone asked, “Sir, with all due respect. Would you kindly please also put in your analysis of how you assessed and improved the FengShui of the area? This would be very helpful to us when you SHARE your discoveries. On the other hand, I also admit to the fact that as meagre as my FS application is, it is not to say I depend on the crumbs of FengShui AUDIT knowledge given by well-meaning FengShui practitioners. But it will make a world of difference if YOUR person does truly share please.” And we only responded, “Analysis of such nature will be covered in our BASIC FUNDAMENTAL COURSE. Surprisingly not many schools take such Qi flow seriously... If you are keen, do visit us HERE”. Do you want to find out more?

SOME OLD THOUGHTS ON QI MOVEMENT

FengShui Basic - Locating A Succesful Retail Outlet

 - 04092011

In a series of articles to come, we shall discuss about the fundamental of FengShui as a per-cursor to our maiden workshop on FengShui. Lets look at the simple unsophisticated ways of selecting a successful retail outlet... Locating a successful retail outlet is an art. Entering Earth Eye 入地眼 stipulates the characteristic of Qi. Those who misunderstood such thought that water placements are the only answer.  By so doing what is generally known as water lizards as though they are water dragons were created. Pity that they also could not differentiate between jade belt and sickle formations. At the end,one succumb to other sorts of voodoo methods to make things work. Is this FengShui? Not really. They are magician by professions. One of the pet techniques in locating successful outlets is to receive incoming Qi through a vertical Qi map. Yet both cases presented herein showed otherwise. One successful Japanese outlet with patrons queue up just to grab a chair while the other well known "Gui LingGao" stall vacant for the lack of patron. Both are receiving prosperous incoming Qi. Something must be really wrong, isn't it? There are fundamental basic knowledge a FengShui practitioner must have devoid of the hocus-pocus stuff.

FengShui Basic - 8 Aspirations

- 20112011

In the discourse of Internal FengShui, you will term with 8 aspirations school: there will be sector for academic, wealth, health, romance and so forth. The 8 aspirations school is a modified method. If there is a basis for Life Palace analysis in XuanKong, there must also be the basis of Wealth, Health, Academic, Romance and so forth. These are the specific purpose. The problem is we seldom ask beyond what has been given. While we spoke about specific purpose, the 8 aspirations are the common needs within a household. The question is, have we not achieved the aspirations after investing our hard earned money into learning FengShui? Is it the theory we learnt is faulty or the teacher simply doesn’t bother to teach the correct applications? Such, I leave it for you to contemplate. Aspiration is personal. Unfortunately, in modern times, money is the yardstick. Predecessors liked Yang - the Savior of the Poor to Lai - the Wanderers in Cotton Robe, live in low profiles and avoid glamor. Maverick Jiang – the Keeper of Heavenly Secrets has to have his disciple sponsor his retirement home. By the same token, if honest masters were to walk their forefather’s path, wouldn’t they too end up in such a situation? Contrary, the “CON-sultants” who will live a posh life from Giorgio to Armani, while promoting FengShui as expansive hobbies. We came across a place dedicated to a FengShui "extremely low profile" grandmaster of the past. He conceals himself as a beggar and helps the poor to have better lives based on the principles of affinity. One question remains, why wouldn’t he use his knowledge to make himself fabulous? Would a rich client come to him for FengShui advice? Such, I also leave it for you to contemplate. Look around us today. If one takes FengShui as a career, the good one will end up liked their forefathers - childless, die-young or ultimately, live a pauper. If one takes FengShui to prosper oneself then to help others to achieve the same, it is no longer a career but a charity. Charity must always stem from education. So, why shy away from teaching others the correct path and learn from our past mistakes? In doubt, affinity is always the guiding principles – that is what QuanYuan is all about.

FengShui Basic - To Move or Not Move

- 08112011

Movement and Stillness, these are the two words that are simple yet complicated.

"It begins with movement; hardly can see a thing, when it comes to stillness, all begin to understand. When one sees stillness as the essential marvel, how may one knows that movement is the foundation?"

A competent practitioner would utilize an unfavorable sector to his advantages. A competent BaZi consultant would also use the negative gods. Beginners’ mistake is to equate the use of Eight Mansions with Flying Stars. These are two methods with different fundamentals. Eight Mansions stem from Early Heaven while Flying Stars stem from Later Heaven. Not surprising if someone were to asked, “What if the sector has a JueMing but yet a favorable 8 wealth star?”

Eight Mansions talked about Gua Qi, elemental relationship. Flying Stars talked about GuaXiang, imagery. The Classics state, “The Gua imagery is established on the basis of their meanings; understand the images and forget the words – the idea is clear of itself. The whole world delusively clings to the imagery; uses GuaQi and rise in levitation.” The elusive meaning of GuaQi remains the key, which many teachers refused to depart.

Evaluating internal spaces, GuaQi remains an important factor. What would be the reference for the interior? Such is called the YinYang boundary. It is the point to distribute the stars. The strangest thing is why must the reference be located at the center? Why must the Wedge be placed at the center? Why must one even smack the 9 Grids forcefully into the house plan as though there is a physical boundary between Qi? What if the physical demarcation of architectural walls differs from the 9 Grids? Why must there be even Grid Vs Wedge? Such reflects the lack of understanding in FengShui fundamentals.

The grid and wedge are simultaneously deployed. The wedge referred to the art of LiPan, establishing the LuoPan. The Grid is an aid of accessing Qi maps. While drawing up Qi maps and establishing the LuoPan became the integral part of a competent practitioner, many were not taught the proper way of doing such. To convince one that Qi moves as LoShu would not guarantee one’s application of eight mansions or FlyingStar is correct. The key is not with LoShu, but to understand how Qi spirals in 3 dimensions and work thereof. Such will work perfectly with whatever given architectural plans.

Only then, would the knowledge of stillness and movement work within the misconstrued Direct/Indirect Spirits, another malicious subject. In summary, Internal FengShui is all about the art of identifying internal Qi maps, activating, receiving or transforming  through the various essentials of a Yang Dwelling.
Saying thus, the success rate is still within its external!

FengShui Basic - Specific Purpose In Generic

It is very common for householders to suggest generic needs such as the well-being of the family while residing in the house. I would say it is generally accepted norms to prioritize well-being as the first criteria in residential FengShui. However, the notion of well-being is far too generic and it became the burden to the practitioner of not defining such in the onset of their audits. So, as a prudent measure, seasoned practitioners would qualify further assuming: -

1. Family Harmony ranks priority
2. Health Improvement for the Elderly
3. Wealth opportunity for the Bread Winner
4. Academic achievement for the school going children

These became the so called “specific purpose” which may have been silent in the pretext of “good health and good wealth” generic needs. Saying thus nothing is deemed to have been cast in stone, as this is a living art, best demonstrated by the following example.

We audited a small family where the gentleman is living with his mum while his dad had passed away. So, we only have 2 variables to deal with, one, the bread earner and two, the elderly mother. The gentleman is single and working in a multinational company. Needless to say, opportunity for promotions and meeting the opposite sexes would automatically be the priority while for his mum, health improvement ranks supreme. At this juncture, we are able to narrow down to a specific purpose and with very simple alteration using the so called “kindergarten” 8 mansions, he was promoted. We also observed there is a better change in his attitude towards other which results in him attracting the opposite sexes. His mother, on the other hand, has less sleepless night and less worry. We could not believe such a simple method would bring about good results and more importantly his dad has a permanent place within his blessed home. When identifying water mouth became difficult, use Heaven Qi approach, as this art is a living art.

Residential FengShui is more challenging in that forms as compared to Commercial FengShui, where the bottom line is profitability. As we grew wiser in our practices, we noticed that a good practitioner is able to intervene in any given situation. He does not run away when situation does not present upon him an ideal situation such as what if the Killing Forces in the area is overly strong? Move away? What if he cannot afford to do so? What will be the better alternatives? Drop the case and ask him to look for other practitioners instead?

Any competent practitioners would have made mistake. More importantly, he must be humble enough to learn from it. The Chinese Ideal of first Destiny, second Luck, third FengShui, fourth Meritorious Deed and fifth Education had been greatly misunderstood. For example, Education is a reserved privilege for the male gender in the aristocratic Chinese community. Does it means to say, female is devoid a chance to improve on their Destinies, for not being given the opportunity for education? No, education in the simple Chinese nuance means learning from one’s mistake and takes step to improve oneself. This is the very basis of doing meritorious deed to oneself and others will naturally comes its way.

“The cosmos lies in one’s hand, the ten thousand transformations are born from oneself.”

FengShui Basic - Learning To Unlearn

- 04112011

When comes to learning FengShui, one of the most regrettable aspect is to hastily put to test what one has learned and easily discard it when good results are not seen. Sometimes it is always the hype that what is learnt is always better then what has already known. Doubt is always the best teacher as it is the devil and angel in the same package. For instances, internal Qi manipulations will not work if one does not know how to receive or acquire Qi from the greater external. That is why FlyingStar, 8 Mansions and the sorts are just as good theory on paper. A Qi container (house) will always remain empty unless one put something into it. It reminds me of the following sayings: -

“Swallowing saliva and acquiring breath are human actions; only when one knows the Way, one is able to form and transform, just liked in a Ding (tripod) there is no True Seed, liken to use water and fire to boil an empty pot”

So, when one fails to see result, we blame the method that was taught was incorrect and we fails to see that it is the reluctant of the teacher to pass on the “key”, for whatever reasons. It is only upon seeing and watching carefully of how a teacher executes his work in real life audit, would then one able to know the conditions for a method to work. Such will traditionally comes with a bucket load of insults and intimidations from being a coolie to someone holding the teacher’s bag and umbrella. In the modern context, it will be par on material gains which is nothing to be surprised of.

The complexities of residential FengShui is such that if nothing could be done to the Main Door and the Bedroom or even the Kitchen Stove such as a portable stove over a fixed stove so as to get a “perfect” XKDG hexagram, what else could be done? One friend from France suggested that to take a hammer to activate all the good SanSha points and at the same time digging all the relevant parts in the yard to challenge the 5 yellow. Such is not always the way.

Another case in example, a gentleman passed his prime and ended up retrenched with a family to feed. What would be the specific purpose in this case? Food on the table is the priority. Does one go about tilting doors, tables, stoves and maybe beds? This family has not enough money to do the necessary and one strange thing was even the bed was built-into the wall. A simple intervention of changing the joss urn made it possible for the gentlemen age 50 to be employed. Can such be considered simple achievement for a specific purpose?

A competent practitioner never stop learning and practicing. By practicing on the fields he learns something new and unlearns something old. Every case has its own set of challenges and limitations, if it is not carefully dealt with, it may haunt you forever. Yet, when you know that the FengShui methods you used, improve the lives of the many such as healing the sick, putting enough food on the dining table, getting childless couple to finally have children and helping your peers and students to have a decent promotions, the satisfactoriness of such meritorious deeds are far better than creating the number of millionaires.

Perhaps, such wisdom  may appease our doubtful minds: -

"It begins with movement; hardly can see a thing, when it comes to stillness, all begin to understand. When one sees stillness as the essential marvel, how may one knows that movement is the foundation?"

FengShui Basic - The Alchemy of FengShui

- 04112011

Internal FengShui is modified from FengShui of the external. A grave has only one room but a House has many rooms. Does it translate into many sittings and facings? Each and every room has its own “Flying-Star” chart? Each door leading to the room is the reference point?

Observing SanHe practitioner at work is thought provoking. He spends his time measuring every inch of the walls while a XKDG practitioner may just measure door. Wouldn’t these two diverse methods bore different results?

Chinese nuances may differ in its meaning of “sit” and “seat”. So the question of measuring the sitting of the house, door, et-cetera may eventually differ from that of measuring seating of the house, door, et-cetera. So, when we look at FlyingStar chart, do we consider sitting mountain as “seating” mountain instead? But, most importantly, how do you define a “seating mountain”?

Perhaps seating is confusing, let us investigate facing instead. Searching the internet for methods of establishing facing, one will be amazed that there are many ways to go about it, from the main door as facing to the main facade as facing. What if all the 4 facades are identical facing an empty land? I guess, that will be the nightmare for FlyingStar practitioners.

The onset is fundamentally simple. Each has its own Taiji. Before that, How to establish the Taiji spot? How Qi flows? The intricate part, how to receive Qi or acquiring Qi. Both differ depending on techniques. Worse of the lot is to believe that this element grows this element, If I am this element, then it grows me, this is call ShengQi! I call it BullShit!

Internal FengShui is similar to Internal Alchemy. Contemplate such: -

Jing (Essense), Qi (Energy) and Shen (Spirits) affect one another. When it follows the flow it forms the Coporeal Form; when they invert the flow, they generate the Elixir. The flow is the one begets two, two beget three, three beget the ten thousand things…inverting the flow, the ten thousand things return to the three, the three returns to the two and the two returns to the ultimate one. Those who know the way, look after their Coporeal Form, they nourish their corporeal form to refine their Essense, accumulates it and transmuted it into Energy, refining such to merge it into their Spirits to revert to Emptiness.

Now, the question is what is the Jing (Essense), Qi (Energy) and Shen (Spirits) of your living abode?

SHOW ME THE MONEY IN 2017

Now that we have entered a brand new year 2017 - I have good news & I have bad news…

Let me start first with a harsh reality. No matter what anyone is saying - things are getting bad out there & they’re only going to get worse. See, the entire World has changed, however, we’re still believing in the old ways of doing things.
It’s crazy!
Here’s what we’re taught through the “OLD school of thoughts”
#1 - Go To School
#2 - Get a Job
#3 - Work Hard
#4 - Pay Your Taxes
#5 - Save Your Money
#6 - Get Out of Debt
#7 - Invest For The Long Term
#8 - Retire

Let me ask you something - does that REALLY sound like something you can do today and succeed?

NO!

This system can’t be further from the “truth”.

These are exactly the Battle Cries from Robert Kiyosaki, the author of Rich Dad, trying to brainwash everyone seeking to be the next millionaire. Even one of the Money squeezing Academy of Chinese metaphysics (MsAocm) in town echoed the same to hard sell their BaZi programme morph into some other forms beyond recognition… Wonder why don’t the master trainer make all his staffs to be millionaires and not having to work for him, before they are let go to promote his courses such as the Million-Hair Mind, Get Filthy-Rich with FengShui or How To Survive in Turbulent Times?

THE STRATIFIED SOCIETIES

The Hindu has the caste system to put every person by birth into the order of the Ruling Class, the Warrior Class, the Traders, the Artisans and the Untouchables. The Feudal system has the following stratified societies, the Monarchy, the Officers, the Warriors, the Merchants, the Artisans, the Farmers and the Commoners. The Feudal system with their wealth and embezzlement form the 13 families that controls 90% of the world resources till today.

When the Feudal system broke down in the era of Industrial Revolution, the Laissez-faire (free market) economy comes in as replacement. Capitalism takes its root by introducing the stratified society of one with Capital, the Bourgeois (the Landlord) and the one without Capital, the Proletariat (the Worker). The Feudal system did not just die there… it merely transform into something else – the Capitalist. Everyone works for the Capitalist. The Capitalist controls 90% of the world resources and the majority has less than 10%. This is where the term “modern slavery” comes into existence.

Kiyosaki merely resonate the fact that the majority were educated to think like the Proletariat (the Worker) and the Bourgeois (the Landlord) has a totally different mindset and game plan. This is very true. The entire mechanism and machinery from the cradle to the grave were designed to produce the Proletariat (the Worker) and not the Bourgeois (the Landlord). You only need one Queen Bee in the Hive, not more. Even one of the Money squeezing Academy of Chinese metaphysics (MsAocm) in town echoed the same to hard sell their BaZi programme morph into some other forms liked the Million-Hair Mind, Get Filthy-Rich with FengShui or How To Survive in Disturbing Times?

To resolve the injustice of the Capitalist controlling 90% of the world resources and the majority has less than 10%, a reverse system was introduced – called Communism. There should only be the State and the Proletariat (the Worker). By the same token, the State is but a reflection of the Bourgeois (the Landlord) and the Proletariat (the Worker) only controls less than 1% of the resources. Everything goes back to square one… just different terms and nothing new. That is where Communism failed.

Fast forward into the future, Information Revolution took over the Industrial Revolution. The world is getting smaller, things are moving faster, everything digital and games are changing by the second. The Information age will see the Plug-In (those with Info) and the Plug-Out (those without Info). The Plug-In or Plug-Out depends greatly on the level of relevancy in this stratified society. Facebook and Google has physical commodity to sell. Uber and Grab do not own any car but yet control the largest fleet of taxis in the world. Camera goes digital and Kodak has to go burst. Apple is trying to compress the entire digital world into paper thin apparatus. Banks go digitals with only a webpage on the screen. What these events trying to show are nothing new. Change is the only Constant. Obsolesces are the new world order. Bourgeois (the Landlord) and the Proletariat (the Worker) still exist but now take a different form.

The One who truly qualified to be the Bourgeois (the Landlord), if not by birth, shall be the one who offer their services nobody can deny. This is a parcel of the Blue Ocean strategy – creating relevance and to avoid obsolesces. Kiyosaki is trying to reinvent himself by selling this - creating relevance and to avoid obsolesces. Even one of the Money squeezing Academy of Chinese metaphysics (MsAocm) in town is doing just that! Morphing age-old Chinese Metaphysics into Hyper Modern Catch-Phrase Jargon – liked Art of the Sages?

THE ANCIENT CHINESE FORMULA 古老方法

Change is the only Constant. The wisest saying in the YiJing. Retrospection against the ancient feudal stratified societies, there are basically:
  1. the Monarchy,
  2. the Officers,
  3. the Warriors,
  4. the Literati,
  5. the Merchants,
  6. the Artisans,
  7. the Farmers and
  8. the Commoners.

The Monarch arises as someone who fought and win the battle against all odds. Make no mistake that they resemble the most ruthless persona with greed and ambitions without remorse and empathy to build an empire. If they are made to be, they shall be from the Warrior class. The other class of Monarch, is born to be through hereditary. They too learn the art of survival from the very young age to be the most ruthless persona with greed and ambitions without remorse and empathy to inherit an empire. These are the inherent character of the Monarch – that is beyond reach by the commoners.

Today, everybody want to be a monarch by their own rights. Modern monarchs are tycoons, someone who is in control of the entire conglomerate of multi-national companies that hire thousands of workers having flagships properties all the world over. But how many tycoons are there compared to the rest of the population? Which country produced the most tycoons? How to be one?

The ancient sage came out with the following formulas, Knowledge 讀書, Deed 福德, Wind and Water 風水, Luck 運 and Fate 命. These 5 formulas are arranged with Fate being the first and Knowledge being the least important. In reality, they meant to be read upside down because they knew that not everyone is lucky enough to be born or fated to be an Emperor. So, you ought to work your way up…

KNOWLEDGE 讀書

The Chinese has this saying, 書中自有黄金屋 meaning within the pages of the books you will build your golden house, typically a Confucian thinking! How Bourgeois can that be? In the literal sense, it simply means Knowledge  讀書 is your first line of defence. You must reckoned what is true and what is false. With knowledge you make informed decision. In the entire lifespan of a typical China-man, there are 3 stages of growth namely FuLu Shou, 福祿壽, Auspicious, Prosperity and Longevity. It is deemed Auspicious if one has the opportunity to acquire Knowledge and by so doing one is able to have good career and to build a family with good offspring.  This is the criteria of being auspicious 福.

DEED 福德

With these informed decision that you make, you take proactive action. These actions are called Deeds. When a commoner has the knowledge of farming, his deeds are known by many as Farmer, the producer. When the farmer specialises in a specific sets of skill, he is an expert and are called the Artisans. When he is skilled in monetizing his arts, he is called the Merchants. During peace time, they are all farmers. During critical crisis, they are all Warriors. These are all Deeds. Good deeds bring forth good outcome. Bad deeds bring forth bad outcome. Some called this Karma 因果. In Hyper Modern Catch-Phrase Jargon, it is call Equilibrium Exchange. No action no outcome. By the same token, you ought to create relevance with the set of skills you acquired. Some took the route of 書中自有黄金屋 meaning within the pages of the books you will build your golden house, by scoring high achievement in the Imperial examination to be promoted as Official 官 in the Imperial court, 攀龍有慶.

WIND AND WATER 風水

These Deeds will open up opportunity of meeting noble people 貴人. People will be drawn to you and they will bring opportunity to you, simply because they need your services of a specific skillset. Your skill will be known to all just like wind that will blow to all the 8 directions. People will then come to you like water flowing back to its source. Together, these are FengShui, Wind and Water 風水. In Hyper Modern Catch-Phrase Jargon, it is at the right place at the right time or technical know-Who is more important than technical know-How. This will bring you wealth 祿.

LUCK 運

When a person is wealthy, wealth buys more 財 opportunity, power and nobility 貴. A wealthy person is always considered to be Lucky 運. They will be viewed as being in their good luck cycle. Some took the route of 書中自有黄金屋 meaning within the pages of the books you will build your golden house, by scoring high achievement in the Imperial examination to be promoted as Official 官 in the Imperial court, 攀龍有慶. With Officer 官 position, people will come to you with money 財 in exchange for favour. This is the so-called Prosperous Luck Cycle stages of growth 祿.

FATE 命

With such luck, your Fate 命 will change. If you do not turn out to be the King himself, you could be the King Maker. Many politicians 官 make their friends and families to be tycoons by dishing out government projects. This is called Nepotism and Cronyism. When they have their hands to the national wealth cookie jar and use them as though it was their personal funds, this is term Kleptocracy. Who say that one’s Fate cannot change? It can change and it also can change for the worse. A good Life 命, also the same word as fate, is to grow old gracefully 壽, which does not just mean longevity. What is longevity to you if it brings suffering liked prolong illness?

3 APPLICATIONS IN THE MODERN WORLD 現代三要

What are the 3 prerequisites 三要? Money, money and money… Just see for instance, one of the Money squeezing Academy of Chinese metaphysics (MsAocm) has to offer liked the Million-Hair Mind, Get Filthy-Rich with FengShui or How to Survive in Disturbing Times. It is all related to money, money and money… Just wonder why don’t the master trainer make all his staffs to be millionaires and not having to work for him, before they are let go to promote his courses? Actions speak louder than words… right?

The fact is the same… You need the majority of the Proletariat (the Worker) to serve the minority of the Bourgeois (the Landlord). No matter how you camouflage, the order of nature is the same… 道法自然. The fastest way to accomplish such is to ignore the followings…

Picture

THE 3 ABSTINENCE 三不做

To be a modern day Monarch, one must be the most ruthless persona with greed and ambitions without remorse and empathy to build an empire. If they are made to be, they shall be from the Warrior class. They must ignore these 3 abstinence 三不做…
1. No Affinity, Don't Do...
2. Against One's Conscience, Don't Do...
3. Destroying Other's FengShui, Don't Do...

BE AS GREEDY AS THE WOLF 貪狼

By so doing they shall use the number One star TangLang 貪狼 or TianPeng 天蓬 to the maximum before arriving to become the number 5 star LianZhen 廉貞. TangLang 貪狼 comprises of the word – Greed 貪 and not the word – Poor 貧. Can you see the similarity of both words? Why people say, once you are greedy 貪 you will become poor 貧. However, if you are not greedy enough you have no hunger to strive… Strange enough, in QiMen, TangLang 貪狼 is TianPeng 天蓬, that the classical tales Journey to the West 西游記, portray as a Pig 豬八戒. TianPeng 天蓬 manifest someone who is Greedy and would do anything to fulfil his lust. That is the sort of quality if you want to be the Emperor - LianZhen 廉貞.

THE GREEDY WOLF FENGSHUI MASTERS

HongKong FeiXing Master Li Kui-Ming (李 居明) needs very little introduction. He hits some sense in most of our FengShui discourse especially so to the layman. One statement that he made was that – do you know why most of the poor remains poor and the rich remains rich? If you ask the poor to shift out from their current home due to bad FengShui, they most likely not able to do it. Therefore they are poor. But, when you ask the rich to move out of the current house for a better FengShui house somewhere, they would do it without giving a second thought! Therefore, they are rich! So, really don’t even think of doing FengShui or even engaging FengShui master for an advice, if you are poor. Don’t even think of spending your hard earned money in courses liked – Million Hair mind through FengShui or Getting Filthy Rich with FengShui if you are poor! It simply cannot make magic for the poor… but for the rich and about to be wealthy, yes indeed – Good FengShui complements you because you will make the changes for the sake of getting richer… well, not necessary greedier. That include the magic techniques of ShengJi and the other bullshit stuffs.

All you need is to engage a FengShui master who could make you a Million Hair!

Picture

TO THE MILLION HAIR MASTERS…

话说七分留三分,留下三分积儿孙。Quote seven points reserve three points, leaving behind three points for your children and grandchildren. This is the cardinal rule of all mortals, unless one is an immortal, or aspire to be one, for example, be a monk/nun and go forth for renunciation. In most Chinese Metaphysics School, this is lesson number ONE. It is greatly missing in English orientated, Money squeezing Academy of chinese metaphysics (MsAocm). In the Chinese sections of the FengShui forum, someone quoted this, 千万不要为了攀附名人高官而随意做法,而给自己和家人带来不利的因果。话说七分留三分,留下三分积儿孙。多为孩子和家人积德,不要借用家人的能量为别人消 灾增福,这是一件很可怕的事情。For a thousand times, do not do it for the sake of associating with the celebrities and the well-known of high officers and freely dishing out your services to them, and give to yourself the adverse consequences of your action to your families. Quote seven points reserve three points, leaving behind three points for your children and grandchildren. Accomplish more merits for your children and family members, do not borrow the good merits of your family for the sake of others salvation, this is a very terrible thing to do.

THE MILLION-HAIRS KING MAKERS TO BE...

Show Me The MONEY !!! - 21062010

This Summer Solstice is strange. First, I bump into a “millionaire” production factory, which I am about to enroll. Second, before I can be made a “millionaire”, I must undertake prep-course before the initiation into indoor discipleship. Only then I am a millionaire. In order to do so I must equip myself with the first million. Why? Because the courses that I am embarking costs more than USD10, 000.00 per session. There are 3 introductory modules, 3 practitioner modules, 3 mastery modules plus one practical module, total up to 1 million, Ringgit for that matter. Then, I read somewhere; the factory owner runs a business of high profit margin. As a disciple you pay a fee, prepare to be mold into a millionaire and that is the end of the transaction. They have their very own expertise and business is business and don’t be too shock with the world of capitalism. How the factory may runs on welfare basis? Right? The owner also needs to be fed - “cari makan”.

This is gorgeous! I never knew that FengShui master has to “cari makan” among their students? I always thought that they are self sufficient with the endowment of the SanYuan of health, wealth and descendent? Perhaps, their services to their clients are just on the affinity basis and not so much of the “cari makan”?

Maybe I am wrong.

Just met up with an old friend from Singapore, one from the family of FengShui master turns Chinese Medicated Hall Entrepreneurs. They kept their practice and lineage only to their own family members. They engage commercial FengShui masters for “show”, especially during opening of their branches. You hardly know they knew their stuff because they don’t look Chinese enough to even hold a LouPan in their hands. Yup, I forgot to ask if they have application forms for me to enroll as indoor disciple. Shit! What a chance I missed!

Any more genuine masters who can turn me into a millionaire? Please stand up!

Ming Yi Of Boleh-Land – The Making Of The Millionaire Monk - 12092010

I am speechless…

I gathered news that a Buddhist Monk from Penang has transformed from being a “poor” monk to a wealthy monk, thanks to the millionaire factory soon to be FengShui master. Now, he has luxury cars, bungalows and a huge retinue of followers whose donations are meant for his whimsical disposals. Congratulations to him, as he will soon to be following the footsteps of Singapore’s famous Venerable MingYi. The difference, maybe this time, it is from the Boleh-land instead of the Kiasu-land. Well, thanks to the good FengShui, I believed.

Somehow, I happened to bump onto this very wealthy monk prior to 2006. Although he is not wealthy then, he has a personal lay assistant accompanying him to study FengShui from one of the academy in town. I remember vividly blogging about it, as one seldom sees a monk in FengShui class. His demeanor is rather uncommon of a person leading a homeless life, such as eating Mc Donald’s after midday? What is used of FengShui to him? For once I believed he may use it for the benefits of others and from the recent news I gathered, I was proven wrong. I did not hear from him since.

I used to think that Buddhist monk leads a homeless life without the burden of material gains. They have the very basic necessities such as the robes, bowl, and some simple needle for stitching and small blade for shavings. They cannot even keep their food overnight and they are only allowed to consume solid food once a day before midday. However, I was told otherwise that in Penang, a wish fulfilling FengShui master is able to grant a student monk of his wish which he is to change his luck and his underprivileged condition. He wanted fame, he wanted devotees, and he wanted money to sustain his temple. I wonder why he did not request for a beautiful wife instead.

I believed, environment changes, so is the monk’s necessities. We also heard that there are also some modern monks who traded their robes for a pair of jeans. I am not surprise at all. It is all coming from the heart that is wayward, XingBu Zhen 心 不 正. Rather useless to talk about the ethic of a good master, when it only shows that they are from the same flocks of scrupulous wayward practitioners. Bloody shame indeed.

On Second Thought... - 05102010

Ever since my expose of Bastardizing XieZi follows by Bastardizing FeiXing, I am humbled by the brief introduction of the soon to be master. On such occassion, one thing has been proven the truth as admitted by himself, I am NOT lying. Indeed I knew of a monk in saffron robe with his assistant 7 years ago. In regards of this, please anyone out there mind telling me is it all right for a Buddhist Monk in saffron robe craved after fame, money and all things luxury?

On the contrary if such practices are as in the words of the soon to be master, dishonesty, disintegrity and most importantly, WITHOUT a sincere heart towards society and friends, why on earth, such a blog post has been removed? Well, correctly put it, why should he allow you to cover his face, similarly why should you delete your own blog post? Shame perhaps?

Strangely, one Singaporean FengShui blogger has this to share: -

"... This is another type of clown in metaphysics who had instead dragged the name of Buddhism into the pursuits of materialism which I am aghast. I hope that he had written it wrongly as he is apparently not English educated from the way he wrote, not being able to portray his thoughts well enough. I am not different as I am English educated but do have many typo errors which I hope my readers will forgive."

Since there are several emails enquiries about the article, part of it:

'the Monk, expressed his wish to change his luck and his underprevilaged condition. He wanted fame, he wanted devotees, he wanted money to substain his temple. Then, he started to sit in my feng shui class since year 2006. Within 9 months, he had started to see drastic change to his temple and increase of devotees quantity.Today, he is still come for regular feng shui study and Daoism. It is sufficient and enough for a religious monk to have a personal bungalow and a luxury car."

Yes, I am not kidding, this is what was written...- Leegiat (Sept 16, 2010)"

These are not my words, definitely. I also hope that he has written it wrongly.

This blog is dedicated towards provocateurs. An upright person is not afraid to be a subject of provocations. Anger, frustration and jealousy of not able to sit on the "dragon spot", how funny could it be? Anger, frustration and jealousy of seeing masters bastardizing FengShui and milking their student, brothers within the same school malice against one another to be closer to the teacher, these are the subjects of provocateur. Anything wrong? Stepping others so to glorify myself? How glorify can I be? Up the pedestal to be awarded grandmaster? Come on... think for yourself!

Perhaps it is strange as what has Architecture as a profession got to do with these expose as a context? I am becoming confused? Although there is always a bitter feelings between designers and FengShui practitioners for reasons of not understanding each other, it does not however boils down to an ethic of a master as in so damn low as to conciously assisting a clergy to break his precepts. Perhaps it becomes a little petty when there is nothing better and substantial to provoke and it becomes a "personal attack" instead. That is the charecteristic of petty people. Let us reflects on the following Gospels: -
存心不善 ,風水無益 ;
不孝父母 ,奉神無益;
兄弟不和,交友無益;
行止不端,讀書無益.
having evil intentions, feng shui is useless;
being unfilial to parents, worshipping God is futile;
own brothers in discord, making friends is meaningless;
behaving in misconduct, having knowledge is pointless.
Thank you

Postscript: I am speechless? An astounding soon to be master now sounded liked an uneducated scrupulous scumbag! Too much of dragon Qi I supposed? The scumbag's lyrical sounded as though I am bagging him to teach me. What a joke? Perhaps he indirectly has the intention to hit on someone else across the causeway which is his hallmarks, behind veils. Well, short of saying he has no balls, lah. Same with his retinue of fans such as Swan, if I not mistaken. Thanks for showing up, Swan. I miss your bastardizing commentary. Saying thus this is not the first time, remember he quoted Master M of Thailand (This is exactly how he puts it, isn't it?) for screwing up the FengShui of one restaurant? For the soon to be master sake, let not be petty over individual differences and moves on. Talk facts with dignity and stop the childish game of personal ruthless attack, which is only meant for scumbags. Mind you, the soon to be master is supposed to be older and wiser than me (40+ maybe?). For such I thank soon to be master for guiding me. Age does not necessary means wisdom.
