Take this Obscure Heaven 60D 渾天60龍 as an example… This 60D BingZi has given this Wind over Water, Kun 困 Hexagram - Trap. By virtue of Obscure Heaven NaJia 渾天納甲, we obtained: - Child 子 is in 4th Yao Father 父 is in 2nd and 6th Yao Wealth 財 is in 1st Yao Officer 官 in 3rd Yao All these 5 Relations 五亲 are presence in this example. This Hexagram conforms to bring tidings to Resources and Descendent Luck, Wealth and Officer Relationships. The question now is which are the sectors that will bring GOOD TIDINGS? The 6 Yao Method 六爻法 is supposed to have its own way to insert the “directional factors” into the equation by adopting the 4 Heraldic Beasts Methodology 四象法. However this is not the case… Instead, it opted for QiMen 奇門… giving hint the possibility that the 6 Yao’s 6 Heraldic Beasts Method 六爻六象法 is a later modification or invention derived from QiMen 奇門.  SANYUAN QIMEN 三元奇門 QiMen 奇門, being one of the oldest art forms are the mother of SanYuan 三元. The entire framework of SanYuan 三元 is built upon the foundation of QiMen 奇門 via a perpetual set of clockworks that closely knitted to the calendric system. To further understand such, you ought to know these fundamentals such as JieQi 節氣, Hou 候, Dun 遁 and Ju 局. The 60D 60龍, having 6 of its pair receiving additional 2 Hou 候 will give a total of 72 Hou 候 of the 24 JieQi 節氣 or Seasonal Node. CHINESE ASTRONOMY 101 - OBSCURE HEAVEN 渾天 Obscure Heaven 渾天 is referred to as the "Egg-like hypothesis" where the earth is surrounded by a “Heaven” sphere rotating over it. The celestial bodies are attached to the “Heaven” sphere. To demarcate the static dimensions of the Heaven, Heavenly stars were employed. There were generally 2 sets Heavenly stars, Group of stars within the ZiWei Enclosure and Group of stars within the Equatorial Belt, known as 28 asterism 廿八天星. To demarcate the dynamic dimensions of the Heaven, these 7 governors 七政 were employed. They are the 5 planets, namely, Mercury 水星, Venus 金星, Mars 火星, Jupiter 木星, Saturn 土星, Sun日 and Moon 月. Collectively, these are the early Geocentric Model of the Obscure Heaven 渾天. These 7 governors 七政 move while the stars are fixed. They are called the “celestial - palaces” 星宮. Observer from earth created devises such as armillary sphere 渾儀 to “measure the Heaven”. Time master 時師 morph it into the LuoPan and thus called Heavenly Ruler 量天尺 or the outer astronomical rings. This is what it meant by Obscure Heaven opens the precious mirror 渾天開寶鏡. PLATE LINE 盤線 Plate and Line 盤線, is a jargon comprises of 2 words, the Plate 盤 which is referring to the face of the LuoPan and the Line 線 which is the string attached to the LuoPan. Collectively, it is a verb meaning pressing against the string so as to “lock” the plate of the LuoPan from moving. Only by virtue of such, the Precious Mirror 寶鏡 can be opened, a romantic jargon of reading the LuoPan.  SANYUAN 60 DRAGON 三元60龍Each time when you Plate Line 盤線 (assuming it is a verb) the 60D, you will obtain 3 sets of Hexagrams comprising, Heaven Yuan Gua 天元本卦, Earth Yuan Gua 地元本卦 and Obscure Heaven Gua 渾天本卦. This technique is known as obtaining 3 kinds of Gua 卦取三般. These 3 kinds of Gua 三般卦 will give the following readings: - 1. Earth Plate – Portend占 the Vein and the Meridian 2. Human Plate – Portend占 the Effect of the Embrace to the Meridian 3. Heaven Plate – Portend占 the Effect of the Water Mouth to the Meridian  OBSCURE HEAVEN NAJIA 渾天納甲 The moment you obtain the 3 kinds of Gua 卦取三般, every Hexagram can tell a complete story in itself. The science and art of this is called – Heaven and Earth NaJia 天地納甲. Details can be read from the followings: - 1. - DISCOURSE IN HEAVEN EARTH NAJIA YINYANG 2. - DISCOURSE IN HEAVEN EARTH NAJIA YINYANG 2 However, when the NaJia 納甲 method is assigned to the Obscure Heaven Gua 渾天本卦, for some SanHe school, it is called, Obscure Heaven NaJia 渾天納甲 – superficially to assign the 60D 透地龍 for the respective GuaYao 卦爻 and to portend 占 the following lucks 運: - 1. Son, Father, Wealth and Officer - 子父財官 2. Salaried Horse and Noble People - 祿馬貴人 3. Golden Water and the Sun Moon - 金水日月 4. 3 Mysterious and the 4 Auspicious -三奇四吉 Each and every methods to define the Luck 運 itself is Rocket Science beyond the scope of this paper.
