WINTER SOLSTICE 冬至There was a saying that the Winter Solstice is “Larger” than the Year, 冬大如年. What does it means? Winter Solstice 冬至 is one of the twelve solar seasonal markers denoting the peak of winter. It is supposed to be the coldest time of winter where astronomically speaking, the earth is the furthest away from the sun, yet in contrary, the northern hemisphere is also the nearest facing the sun. Such dichotomy is reflective in the saying, in the absolute Yin 太陰 the young Yang 少陽 is born. This is a time of the year when YinYang 陰陽 threshold is blurred. It is a transition time or we called, the “crossover” that usually take place in 21 Dec or 22 Dec each year. Such YinYang threshold 陰陽界 is important for most of the Chinese Metaphysical sciences like FengShui and so forth. When someone is strong enough to withstand such time of extreme cold and turbulent Qi, this someone is said to be able to survive for another year. Therefore for each passing of the winter solstice, a year was added to the age. This is known as the Winter Solstice is “Larger” than the Year, 冬大如年. BEGINNING OF SPRING 立春The beginning of spring 立春 is another solar seasonal markers denoting the arrival of spring usually take place between 4 Feb – 5 Feb each year. It is a time where a new chapter of the year begins. It is technically a new year. However, this again is not really a time where it is the “hottest” or “wettest” of the year, yet it is taken as a “birthday” of the year. Most of the FengShui masters in town will take this LiChun BaZi as the natal chart to predict the auspicious and calamity of the coming year, where they will probably say, the new TaiSui 太歲, SanSha Three Killings三殺 have arrived and certain location cannot have ground breaking. Saying that, some forgot about the 5 yellow actually already kicked in since DongZhi Winter Solstice 冬至 not LiChun beginning of spring 立春. With all the confusions of FengShui techniques liked XuanKong and QiMen 玄空奇門, which solar markers denote the transitions of YinYang, subject to many debates. SOLAR TERMS 節氣Winter solstice 冬至 and beginning of spring 立春 are but two of the 24 solar terms or JieQi 節氣. What makes these two different and not made known is the differences between ZhongQi 中氣 and JieQi 節氣. ZhongQi 中氣 are the time periods or some called the eight periods 八運 that demarcate the intangible Heaven Qi 天氣 while JieQi 節氣 are the location of the eight trigram 八卦 that governs the tangible Earth Qi 地氣. That is why winter solstice 冬至 is the coldest days of the year and not the arrival of winter 立冬 because solstices are ZhongQi 中氣. That is why, Wu 午 month and Wu 午 hour are always hot and Wu 午 year or a Wu 午 day may not necessary be hot. Saying that with the protruding of Bing 丙 doesn’t really mean the sun has arrived at the mountain 太陽到山 and therefore all evils subsided. These are all false and misleading teachings. THE THREE FACTORS 三才 Not all Chinese metaphysics methodologies measure the same thing. The question we always asked is, which Heaven, example early, later or middle, do you measure? Which YinYang 陰陽 thresholds 界do you measure? Zi 子 and Wu 午? Chou 丑 and Wei 未? Yin 寅 and Shen 申? For example, we know that in QiMen 奇門, the YinYang Dun 陰陽遁 will change position upon entering the solstices 至. However do you use the same when you apply in FengShui using the SanHe Heavenly Star Methodology 三合天星法? You will be entirely wrong using the demarcation of Heaven Qi for a job require you to measure Earth Qi. That is the reason, without knowing how to apply the 3 factors of SanChai 三才 you will not able to construct a FengShui formation and any amount of “salt water” cure or placement FengShui water features would best be just trial and error plus a little bit of blind faiths. This is NOT FengShui.

NAKED EYE 長眼法 AT A GLANCE You may have heard about a technique called – Naked Eye Method 長眼法. This Form School 形家 YinYang Methodology 陰陽法 enable a practitioner to determine the auspiciousness 吉 or calamity 凶 of a site without the use of LuoPan 羅盤 by employing Dragon 龍, Tiger 虎, Phoenix雀 and Turtle 武 to evaluate landform and uses form 形 to remedy any shortcoming. According to one school founded in Taiwan by the Mud Eel Master 泥鳅師, it has nothing to do with Qi flow 氣流法 and it is a standalone technique. However, one LiuFa 六法 school claimed otherwise that it is originated from a fixed Gua 定卦 perspective and Mud Eel Master 泥鳅師 school only have divination technique 斷絕 and did not have the Yi principle 易理, therefore not a complete transmission. In fact, both the Mud Eel Master 泥鳅師 and LiuFa 六法 school incorporated this technique once called YangGong’s 楊公 Heavenly Heart Methodology 十道天心法 that uses the Cross Line 十道 reference of a human body 人體 as a mean to measure landform 形家 with the aid of a walking stick 長. That is where the name Naked Eye Method 長眼法 comes about. Unlike the Golden Lock Jade Portal 金鎖玉關, it does not really based on the entire eight trigram 八卦 and LoShu 洛書. Instead it is based on the Four Imagery 四象, YinYang 陰陽 and HeTu 河圖 numerology. Therefore it is sometimes called Four Imagery YinYang Techniques 四象陰陽法. Coupled with Passerby YinYang 過路陰陽 that has a close proximities to XuanKong Gua 玄空卦, Naked Eye Method 長眼法 can be incorporated with the permutation of the eight trigram 八卦 to determine Who, When and How an event would occur based on landform. EEL MASTER 泥鳅師 A short introduction of this school originated from the Monk Master 和尚師, rather an absolute generic name for a founder of a great school of FengShui. Zheng QingFeng 鄭清風, as a young turd has been spending his youth in the mountain attending to goats and cows and having the affinity to meet this Monk Master 和尚師, that was famed to have been following the retinue of Chiang KaiShek 蔣介石 at that time, defeated by the Communist to retreat to Taiwan. In a sunny morning Monk Master 和尚師 has taught Zheng QingFeng 鄭清風 the art of Naked Eye Method 長眼法 through the various burial grounds around that area. With confident, the young Zheng QingFeng 鄭清風 approached other masters that have been dotting graves around the area, while providing accurate and sharp predictions to the many grave sites, he managed to carve his name in the industry at his time. He was later known as Snail Master 泥鮴師 owing to his casual habits of catching eels in the countryside. This school was survived by the current contemporary lineage holder in Taiwan and due to the quick nature of summing up the FengShui of a grave or a premise, it was widespread through Singapore, Malaysia but not HongKong, surprisingly. There is another XKDG 玄空大卦 book in the market for the English readers but this book is not for the uninitiated. It jovially called itself as XKDG: Not Exactly for Idiots. It is a softcover book less than 300 pages written in a lucid style of the author trying to be funny at times to garnish a stale plate with otherwise dry and boring subject. Offered at a price of below USD50.00, with the same amount of “craps” found in live courses for the same subject for most schools of Chinese Metaphysics in the market that would probably burnt a deep hole in your pocket, like nothing less than USD5,000.00. It is truly an instructional book. However, being the initiated reader, we may offer some additional “craps” that is hardly heard of in this subject… HOW THE HECK YOU GROUP YOUR HEXAGRAMS ? - 八宮位
WHAT IS THE MECHANICS OF XKDG? - 龍山向水
HOW TO SET UP A FORMATION IN XKDG? - 定局
THE "MAGICAL ART OF HARRY POTTER" IN THE HEXAGRAM'S YAO CHANGE... - 用爻法
The book ends its note with some “sticky issue” that court controversy such as: -
While we do agree with the author on such notion, but what if the actual FeiXing 飛星 method vested on the same fundamentals of DaGua 大卦, simply called it as SanYuan FeiXing 三元飛星? The FeiXing becomes the integral part of the entire system of SanYuan 三元. One ought to work its ways from the BaGua system of Eight Mansions to the 24 mountains of Feixing, then only the 64 Hexagrams of DaGua. By such you will find that XuangKong that we knew of today, is nothing more but a fake system… By saying such, it apprently make sense that this book cost only USD 50.00 and yet what has been discussed are the core syllabus of many XKDG live courses in the market that can fetched up to USD10,000.00 probably in the West and some also said, in Bolehland and Kiasuland respectively... With added stuff liked QMDJ and called it SanYuan XianTian QMDJ XKDG , it may goes up to USD 15,000.00. Day light robbery? Not really if it really dishes out the real stuffs instead of the common knowledge found in many Chinese FengShui books of the same topic. As for the Book, coincidentally called - XUANKONG DAGUA Not Exactly For Dummies written by our favorite author, Master Hung HinCheong, is strongly recommended to buy for collection... Want to learn more? A CASE IN MIND... XIEZI OF SOON TO BE DRAGON SPOT - 18102010 The fiasco of soon to be master has opened up another opportunity. Exactly the sort of case study we ought to investigate - why would a FengShui practice (subject) ceased to survive in Kuala Lumpur? It was rather puzzling as the claimed expert in locating "dragon Spot" with self proclaimed XieZi would have located a wonderful office to begin with? Why all the sudden packed and go? We ought to understand what has gone so very wrong with the location itself or perhaps what has gone so wrong with the method of application. Located at a commercial area, the tapping of Qian incoming with two rivers namely, Sungai Keroh and Sungai Batu, exiting at Xun could be well benefitted. Qi sequence from Templers, Selayang, Sungai Buloh, Kepong and all the way to Segambut and Sentul manifesting "cowboy town" Tell tale sign of robust business with a lack of nobility. That is why there are a lot of wealthy Chinaman. Subject office is sitting Wu (Li) facing Zi (Kan), very close to DE, how can that be possible? Higher on the front and lower at the back, contradicting ideal land form principle. Conforming to the SanYuan LingZhen principle which is, in this case, only GOOD on paper because it is not supported by landform. XKDG perspective, Dragon matching Mountain, GuaQi metal 9-4, Water matching Facing GuaQi water 1-6. All period 6 Gua conforms to lower period 8 onwards. What has gone so freaking wrong? All matching hexagram is not Out of Gua neither are they from different family of East River Gua. Qi communication, technically smooth. SanHe perspective, Yang Fire structure incoming Extinct exiting Officer. Receiving Stale Qi and Exiting Vibrant Qi. Water mouth unlocked. PostScript: Jo Ching said... any idea which yao is the sitting on? this is a chou yao huan xiang method. Might have changed to the wrong image. XIEZI OF SOON TO BE DRAGON SPOT 2 - 20102010 Prompted by a fellow practitioner in Singapore about 抽爻换象, altering the Yao to transform the imagery. Novel idea to add more layer in the XKDG methodology. To achieve 一卦纯清 or Single Pure Gua Formation, there is a tendency that the selected Hexagram, of 5.625 degree, may have changed to another Hexagram based on a more refined subdivision of Yao, within the region of 0.937 degree (speaking about German accuracy here in the context of ancient Chinese art). That is an absolute accuracy given the fact that the rustic handmade LuoPan is quite a primitive tool. No doubt, it is subject of major criticism yet for completeness let's investigates further. Physical measurement revealed that it is close to the 3rd Yao. Change from the sitting Hex of Eliminating to Marsh. Can this 一卦纯清 or Single Pure Gua Formation? The original Hex Eliminating denotes cutting off. Five Yang Yao cutting off a single Yin Yao, leaving no room for retreat. The general connotation of this Gua is inauspicious reflecting careless move and ill judgment. Such is the nature of soon to be master FengShui practice located in this alignment which are bound to disputes and disharmony. Whereas, the transformed Hex Marsh is an auspicious one. Such will only be beneficial if one is sincere without ulterior motives. However, would it transform in the first place?
No combination taken place within the transformed Hex itself. Speaking of 一卦纯清 or Single Pure Gua Formation, not so easy as it is... VH is set on becoming a lifestyle shopping centre that is aimed at rejuvenating the 'dead' Jalan Loke Yew area in Cheras. This latest retail landmark in the KL landscape is part of the KSC’s aim to redevelop UE3 building, as part of a 2-phase mixed development with a RM70 million makeover in the first round… If you believe in the ancient art of FengShui being the reason that Plaza Uncang Emas UE3 has not been successful despite its location, you may be correct… Hopefully with this revamp …it will make it this time, as reported by propwall.my in 2010. Unfortunately, the fact is that it failed to deliver what has been promised. Has this got to do with the wrong FengShui again? LANDFORM 巒頭 This mall sits on a small hill, receiving the vein from Gen direction with water exiting Kun direction favoring wood formation. However, the biggest problem vested on its location – the water shed. A water shed is a case in which outgoing water is from every direction, therefore this piece of property will bleed financially. Observing both of the entrances, one will notice that Qi is leaking everywhere… As reported by propwall.my, there will be renovating to make it more 'open' and removed and re positioned some of the escalators. Yet, shops facing the so called - incoming Qi escalator have yet to see any improvement as the entire mall is devoid of people. Without a good external, would a good internal Qi map plays a part? I doubt so… Interesting enough, the main lobby was located at the upper level instead of the natural ground. If you notice carefully there is an inbuilt killing Qi called drenched head water 淋头水 just above the main entrance. If truly, this property has been FengShui-ed, the practitioner has failed in many counts to discharge his obligation. Looking at this “masterpiece”, it can be safely said that he knows nut about what FengShui is all about. XKDG APPROACH 玄空大卦 The market driven XKDG 玄空大卦 do not concern much about the steps of defining YinYang. Most XKDG 玄空大卦 junkies go about doing the door tilting going straight to XKDG 玄空大卦 64 hexagram omitting the rest of the 8 Gua to 24 mountains and so forth. On this basis, we narrow down to just the 64 hexagram techniques. The standard XKDG 玄空大卦 structure is to align Dragon Mountain Facing Water 龍山向水 to achieve YiGua ChunQing 一卦純清 by virtue of Dragon matching Facing, Mountain matching Water in the combination of HeTu, 10, 15, 5 or the same. Once you achieve these sacred combinations, it is deemed that Qi is able to communicate. Some school uses the period number called period luck whereas other uses the XuanKong 玄空 5 elements. In this case, Dragon Bi 賁 matching Facing Sheng 升 – 1-6 HeTu combo DaGua element or combo-10 period luck, Mountain WuWang 無妄 matching Water Kun 困 4-6 combo-10 DaGua element or 8-8 same period luck. Shouldn’t it be prosperous? How come it does not work that way? Some may say that because these hexagram comes from different families, therefore they are not able to communicate? In the market driven teaching, the idea of Out-of-Gua (OOG) 出卦 has many interpretations. One approach is to employ JinFang BaGong Gua 京房八宮卦 as the point of departure. In this approach, Bi 賁, WuWang 無妄, Sheng升 and Kun 困 are all from different families. Dragon Bi 賁 matching Facing Sheng 升, has the incompatible Out-of-Gua (OOG) 出卦 of Gen, Li and Kun. Whereas Mountain WuWang 無妄 matching Water Kun 困, has the incompatible Out-of-Gua (OOG) 出卦 of Kan, Dui and Qian. So technically they are not able to communicate. Such cannot be the case. SANYUAN FLYING STAR APPROACH 三元飛星 This school advocated that one has to first arrange the 8 Gua. This is achieve by having a set of natal chart that correspond to the incoming dragon Qi and outgoing water. Having said so, you will derive the mountain and facing stars based on the natal chart. If the mountain or the facing star correspond to the period star in the manner of combination of HeTu, 10, 15, 5 or the same, it means to say there is Qi connection to achieve YiGua ChunQing 一卦純清. Based on this case, the element number of sitting Gua should match sitting star and facing Gua should match facing star as in the same manner of combination of HeTu, 10, 15, 5 or the same. Unfortunately, the facing Gua cannot be established because the facing star do not have any active connection with the period Qi. That explain as to why this property is not favorable in terms of monetary gain… However, there are other possible means that is beyond the scope of this paper. IN CONLCUSION Foremost, the saying that landform do not lie and formula do not necessary tells the truth 峦头无假,理气无真 has its merits. When we said landform do not lie it simply means to say, landform is recognizable and shall be the first thing to be considered. Formula do not necessary tells the truth simply means to say, the true application of formulas are seldom readily available and it has to be employed correctly with the landform. The above case demonstrated that it fails on both counts of landform and formulas. Even with formulas, the XKDG 玄空大卦 that is known in the masses may not necessary be the real applications. It fails in many counts. Similarly so with the commonly known Shen’s Flying Star 沈氏玄空飛星 techniques. What we learn from books and knowledge out there are a small fragment of the corpus of knowledge, sad to say often biased towards false techniques. Landform do not lie and formula do not necessary tells the truth 峦头无假, 理气无真 is only the first limb. What comes after is that both SanHe and SanYuan have their very own unique method for LuanTou 巒頭 and LiQi 理氣. Landform within cannot devoid of Formula, Formula within cannot devoid of Landform 巒頭中不離理氣, 理氣中不離巒頭. The question remains as to why would the LoShu period star takes flight based on the direction of the incoming dragon and not any arbitrary Qian palace and why would you want to build up the facing and mountain stars based on the Period star instead? SANYUAN NINE STARS METHODOLOGY 三元九星法 Calling for interest to overseas students to master the ancient Chinese knowledge that has been kept only for the selected few. SanYuan regards as one of the oldest and most respective school of FengShui predating XuanKong and has been around for thousands of years. SanYuan Nine Stars 三元九星法 is a FengShui system under the SanYuan School and regard as a fast, effective and powerful technique that has a complete system of Heaven, Earth and Man on its own. Perhaps you may have heard of the popular XuanKong Flying Stars 玄空飛星 and think it is the same subject, this is absolutely WRONG! The SanYuan Nine Stars 三元九星法 is the original, the oldest and mother of all other so-called flying stars systems. It yields 30 times more effective than XuanKong Flying Stars 玄空飛星 and produce the results in hours, however it is difficult to master and but easy to apply.
This is an advanced Chinese Metaphysics course in SanYuan FengShui – Nine Stars System that will turn you into a professional FengShui practitioner in days. Imaging if you could harness you own destiny with the power of natural energy [Qi] and turning every next step into success with the ancient Chinese “San Yuan” knowledge. In a short span of 5 days, you will be amazed by the amount of knowledge, theories, applications and case studies throughout the course. One FengShui connoisseur from Vietnam shared a murder case as his basis of XuanKong analysis based on the school of WuChang Pai 無常派. With unfortunate cases like this, it is highly unlikely to do a prediction based on whatever LoShu chart we have. The most we could only do a post-diction, see if it does correspond to the numbers in the LoShu chart, the WuChang 無常 way… FAN FUYIN 反伏吟According to the treatise of WuChang Pai 無常派, a sudden death event occurred in a family is highlighted via what is probably known as FuYin 伏吟 and FanYin 反吟 within the LoShu chart. Yin 吟 is siren, ought to have sounded in giving a life and death warning to the inhabitants. FuYin can be understood as Repeated Siren, it is liken to someone repeating the same warning to you again and again in an annoying manner and it is considered to be greatly inauspicious. That happens when the mountain or facing star in the middle is the 5 Yellow. The numbers may repeat the flying pattern of the LuoShu numbers in any palace. FanYin 反吟 is short for Fan FuYin 反伏吟 or Opposite to Repeated Siren. Some teacher takes this as auspicious because it is supposed to be the reverse of FuYin. However, it is truly inauspicious because in any palace the numbers (Mountain or Facing number with the Luoshu number) added up to 10 and this happens when the Mountain or Facing star in the middle is the 5 Yellow. Beyond a superficial level, you will also see that it don’t make sense at all, as a combination of 10 should always be beneficial, but why not for this instances? What is the catch? The caveat is in this term - Fan FuYin 反伏吟 whereby when a FuYin occurred, it may also come together with its reversal, thus its double whammy. It doesn’t really make sense in terms of the stars but it truly make sense in terms of DaGua. FuYin 伏吟 and FanYin 反吟 usually denotes deathly events and if the structure is not timely or broken and does in any manner conform to the natal chart, its malignant effects are great. In many books on this subject, the most fear after FuYin 伏吟 and FanYin 反吟 is the facing, because the Qi mouth of a house is usually located at the facing. However, as the saying goes, water governs wealth, mountain governs health, it cannot deny that an occurrence of FuYin 伏吟 or FanYin 反吟 at the sitting instead of facing, gives the more detrimental effects to the inhabitants in terms of health matter. FAN FUYIN APPLICATION
THE LITMUS TEST - CASE FACT A murder case, happened in North Vietnam at early morning 24th September 2016. The house was built and moved-in in 2015. The house measured sitting Yin facing Shen - 243 degrees. Upon moving in: -
LANDFORM Googlemaps revealed that the location is far from superior as it is located within the basin known in geography as the island of the ox-bow. Landform liked this has very little Qi, thus a broken structure. Its location having rivers at both sides, with the rear river closest indicating the front may have been higher with the back low. In XuanKong 4 structures this is known as backward riding the dragon or up the mountain down the water structure, where the sitting star may not be that strong after all. PAILONG AIXING 排龍挨星 The house was built and moved-in period 8. A period 8 chart with sitting Yin and facing Shen is constructed. The facing palace comprises of the period star 5, facing star 2# and sitting star 8#. 2#-8# combination 10 at facing. Wouldn’t such be great? Unfortunately, this natal chart of the house also called, arranging the dragon 排龍 of the house has nothing to reveal as it has no FuYin. Better still, sitting star 8# that is timely meeting facing star 2# that is untimely will violate the entire benevolent of the timely star? Mind boggling… Perhaps, the sitting timely star 8# arriving at the facing violate the cardinal rule that the “mountain dragon god shall not go down the river, 山上龍神不下水,水里龍神不上山, 青囊序,Mountain on top Dragon God don’t come down to water, Water within Dragon God don’t go up the mountain, (QingNan Xu). Therefore, the timely 8# sitting star has been violated and rendered useless… When we plot in the annual 2016 star - #2 arriving at the centre, appear before us is a FuYin 伏吟 chart. The annual star and sitting star are in FuYin 伏吟 formation for all the 9 palaces. We shall check if indeed it is a FuYin 伏吟 formation at the facing. There is a second test to see if indeed it is a real FanYin 反吟. This is through AiXing 挨星. Facing has 8#-8# Gen WeiShan 艮为山 Gua. Based on Gen WeiShan 艮为山 Gua, we have Dui WeiZe Gua 兑为泽 Gua as its FanYin Gua and Zhen WeiLei Gua 震为雷 as its FuYin Gua. Given house measured sitting Yin facing Shen - 243 degrees, none of the AiXing 挨星 falls within the FanYin nor FuYin. Yet, there are people killed! The above said description failed the litmus test… miserably. ONE ROOM ONE TAIJI 一物一太極Perhaps, we may look at the individual room itself before we come to any conclusion…
ON THE OTHER HANDThe house measured sitting Yin facing Shen - 243 degrees are very close to a small DE under the 72D rings based on YangGong methodology. It already foretell issues related to bloodshed. A good theory, must consistently without failed proved to show result even by the method of reverse engineering. In this instances, it has showcased that FanFu Yin can only be applied to one room, one TaiJi applications. Beyond that it seems that the theory faulted in many areas. This is only one attempt based on a popular known so called WuChang Pai 無常派 applications. How about the rest of the XuanKong derivatives such as MiaoPai 妙派 and so forth?
XUANKONG 3 SCRIPTS 玄空三诀XuanKong Three Scripts 玄空三诀 summarize the three important factors of doing FengShui based on XuanKong 玄空. Different schools may call these scripts differently, but ultimately they are pointing to the same aspect of doing FengShui. It is used to be known as the three ancient oral transmitted scripts 三個古訣. There are many interpretation to these scripts, many beholding such as the top secrets. In some schools, these had been further expended to six, giving birth to the Six Methods of XuanKong or LiuFa. These scripts also generally shared among schools outside SanYuan such as SanHe. Generally the Three Scripts are: -
WHERE IT COMES FROM?These scripts are made known by the so-called lineage holder of ZhongZhou Pai 中州派. Please do not get confused with SuZhou Pai 蘇州派. They are entirely different thing (read HERE for details). ZhongZhou Pai 中州派 was claimed to be a less known school of XuanKong based on its principle of One Teacher, One Student, 一师一徒. It was only made known by Wang TingZhi 王亭之 via his writing ZhongZhou Pai XuanKong School 中州派玄空学. He claimed that as he has made enough fortune to retire into “Shangrila”, he no longer needs to practice this exoteric knowledge thus he decided to disclose them via his writing. It may also mean, this method may not be really reliable and therefore can be disclosed to others… Being a renaissance man, Wang TingZhi 王亭之 professed many talents ranging from FengShui, ZiWei DouShu, food critiques, linguist, tea connoisseur to Tibetan Buddhist Master. Having such illustrious profile also made him an outspoken provocateur to many areas of Chinese Metaphysics especially FengShui, with equal amounts of brickbats as well. He owes such knowledge to his lineage master from Taiwan, famed for his skill in ZiWei DouShu, having also to say that without ZiWei, there is no ZhongZhou Pai 中州派. ZHONGZHOU PAI 中州派
THE FIRST SCRIPTHARBORING STAR SCRIPT 安星訣
COMMENTARY ON HARBORING STAR The term 下卦 is aptly more appropriate to mean Placing Gua instead of Lower Gua, as in a game of chess, 下 means to place. By the same token, before one can be Placing Gua 下卦 or making the first move, one has to lift a Gua or called Lifting Gua 兼卦. Analogically speaking, it is like lifting a chess piece and placing it in the appropriate grid thus first to lift a Gua 兼卦 then to place a Gua 下卦. Both these processes of to lift a Gua 兼卦 then to place a Gua 下卦, by some other terminology means, a star is taking a vector flight with a point of departure and another point of arrival. Collectively, it can also be construed as a number of origination and a number of completion, one Yin and one Yang. Postulations of these sorts may lead to various interpretations and applications. The term Harboring Star 安星 analogically speaking may means to find a home (palace) for the star to reside, just like a boat that may need to be harbored 安. Collectively Harboring Star 安星 means the natal chart of the Flying Star or the LoShu grid. Basically there are 2 ways to harbor the star, one being the conventional Placing Gua 下卦 while the other unconventional Replacement Gua 替卦. In a more general terms, Harboring Star 安星 is a mean to identify the Qi Map of a given location. By the same token it is to identify areas of growth, prosperous, weakening, death and killing based on the structure and formation of the land. Such include identifying incoming and outgoing of water. REPLACEMENT STAR 替卦

As its name suggested, it comprises of 6 factors of XuanKong. Some says, XuanKong LiuFa or also known as XuanKong 6 Methodologies was once a mysterious FengShui system that was strongly advocated by the late Grandmaster Tan YangWu (淡養吾). In 1929, Tan met a Daoist by the name of Li QianXu (李虔虛道長), who later imparted XuanKong LiuFa to him. Another theory state that XuanKong LiuFa is the genuine transmission by the founder Wu JingLuan and It has a shroud of mysticism around it because those who know it do not share the method openly and claim that it is the only true XuanKong teaching and knowledge. Moreover they tend to use strange words and terminology which nobody seem to understand unless you have some foundation knowledge on the subject. XKLF consists of 6 key components - that is why it is called 6 Methods. Actually the translation is a bit misleading because they are not individual methods by its own but key concepts or principles that need to be applied in a holistic way in order to realize its full FengShui potential. The 6 methods of XKLF are:
1) MYSTERIOUS SUBTLETIES 玄空XKLF’s fundamentals are from the YiJing and it places the importance to the concept of Taiji. Unlike XuanKong FeiXing XKFX school that emphasized one room as one TaiJi, meaning there must be within an enclosure, XKLF TaiJi stems from the very human as a reference point against the Qi mouth, be it incoming Qi or outgoing Qi. XKLF believes that human is always concerned about the effects of FengShui. Therefore it places human as the centre point of focus. For building, TaiJi is established at the centre of the building. XKLF considers the bed, workplace as the central datum to establish its TaiJi to take measurements, in addition to placing the TaiJi on the building or the rooms. It gives great flexibility in tapping into the Qi map at any given place by just tilting the desk, bed and so forth. On a larger scale, with the same set of TaiJi and the Early Heaven BaGua one is able to determine the luck of the building based on its facing direction in relation to the nearest Qi mouths such as junctions and road intersections. It is an absolute versatile tool to employ from all types of building to push cart hawker stalls. XKLF uses the 2 Yuan 8 Yun or 2 Cycles and 8 Period instead of the 3 Cycles 9 Period of XKFX. The period 1, 2, 3 and 4 belongs to Upper Yuan while Period 6, 7, 8, 9 belongs to the Lower Yuan. There is no Period 5. The length of each is not fixed like XKFX but it varies according to the Yao of the Gua it represents. A Yin Yao represents 6 years while a Yang Yao represents 9 years. For our current period, it is period 8 starting from 1996 lasting for 21 years. Period 9 begins in 2017. The fundamental theories on this method is derived from QingNan Xu 青囊序. 2) MALE AND FEMALE 雌雄It is about the interaction and union of the male Qian and female Kun, as represented by Yin and Yang, producing offspring of different gender. Without male, female cannot produce. Without female, male cannot grow. Therefore there is always inter-dependency between the male and female and the need for each other to coexist. One cannot survive without the other. Unlike the notion of XuanKong 玄空 which is non-physical, CiXiong 雌雄 is physical manifestation of Male and Female. This concept is extended to Water vs Mountain, Moving vs Stillness, Building vs Road Junctions, Heavy Furniture vs Doorways, etc. The origin of this principle stems from the Early Heaven BaGua where any two opposite Trigrams are always opposite and complementary to each other. Such became its basis to analyse land form. Unlike XKFX, it requires the water mouth as a central reference point for its analysis. 3) LEANING STAR 挨星These stars are the 9 stars of the Great Dipper. They are: -
These 9 stars are mapped to the 9 LuoShu numbers based on the trigram it is associated with. Unlike XKFX that uses the concept of Flying Star within the LoShu, XKLF uses the concept of Leaning Star that means the star lean one against another based on the principle of flipping Yao to change the Gua Imagery 抽爻換象. Unlike XKFX that uses the 45 degree influence of an entire Gua, XKLF uses the 15 degree influence of an entire mountain itself. A trigram is assigned to each of the 24 mountains with a Leaning Star associated to each mountain. When the flipping Yao to change the Gua Imagery 抽爻換象 sets in, an addition of 8 trigrams are produced and these are positioned to the 24 mountains with an additional 2 trigrams attached to these 8 mountains. Altogether it becomes 32 mountains instead. For each period, the configuration of the 32 mountains differ. The core theories of this method vested in Parent SanBan Gua as in TianYu Jing 天玉经. 4) GOLDEN DRAGON 金龍JinLong or Golden Dragon is actually the #5 Yellow LianZhen Aixing star. There are a total of 9 numbers and these numbers are mapped a 9-palace grid. Based on the period number and the way the stars fly forward for Odd number or backward for Even number in the LuoShu 9-palace grid, the location where the #5 lands is the location of JinLong. The JinLong location is also known as the LingShen (Indirect Spirit) location. As the trigrams are group into two groups of male and female (CiXiong principle) gender, the locations where these trigrams lands are termed as LingShen or ZhenShen (Direct Spirit) locations. Therefore are multiple ZhenShen and LingShen directions in each period. ZhenShen locations like to see mountain while LingShen locations like to see water. Think of LingShen as the golden dragon that needs water to survive. Therefore, XKFX notion of ZhenShen represents the current timely star must therefore see mountain and the notion of LingShen represents the current untimely star must therefore see water are quite similar to XKLF. However because in XKFX the Period number always fly forward, XKLF ZhenShen and LingShen may takes the reverse path. Therefore in XKFX, LingShen sector in period 8 is 1234 but in XKLF is 6789. Timeliness is therefore being measured differently. 5) GRAND DUKE 太歲XKLF practitioners are very good a seizing up the fortune of a house or a place fast and accurately based on a predictive method called TaiSui that uses extensively the stems and branches combinations just liked its BaZi counterparts – 3 combo, clashes, penalty and destruction. XKFX will use the annual purple white stars with its daily and monthly stars through its 81 combinations to foretell the fate of a building, XKLF uses mainly the TaiSui replacement method of stems and branches. Besides prediction, XKLF also uses this method for date selections and activation. 6) CASTLE GATE 城門Castle Gate is almost the same as Receiving Yin Pushing Sha Script 收山出煞訣 of the Zhong ZhouPai or the Eliminating Embrace Receiving Water 消砂纳水 of the GuFa Pai 古法派, if it is not the form at the entirety but the essence may be of the same. Cheng Men or Castle Gate is classified as the topmost secret among the 6 methods. It is only taught to the most trusted students. The simple reason is that it is the application of the entire XKLF curriculum. You can master the other 5 techniques but without this Castle Gate, you don’t know how to apply XKLF. It can be construed as a simple technique to position the door or house facing/sitting based on the incoming mountain dragon and outgoing water. Unlike XKFX that require one to know the move in date and sitting/facing of the property, XKLF required the location of the water mouth. This technique is quite similar to the XKDG or the 5GCT formulas that is closed to Dragon, Mountain, Facing and Water structure thus the 2 parts to this formula, Mountain Dragon Castle Gate and Water Dragon Castle Gate. Put it bluntly, the incoming and the outgoing Castle Gate. Kindly also aware that this XKLF Castle Gate has nothing to do with XKFX Castle Gate that tap into the 45 degree auspicious star sector based on HeTu connection. The key principle of Incoming Castle Gate is the HeTu. Very similar to QKGB or LMBDJ methodology the sitting trigram and the incoming dragon trigram must form a HeTu combination in order to be considered auspicious. Facing is the opposite of sitting. By applying this technique, you can match door location to the incoming dragon. The key principle of Outgoing water Castle Gate vested in the Incoming Dragon trigram in Early Heaven sequence and the door facing trigram in Later Heaven sequence must be the same. It is simply a matter of matching correctly the Early Heaven and Later Heaven trigrams between the door facing and incoming dragon to put the structure in order. You will require to master this modus operandi to design tombstone and house facing based on the core principle of "A Thousand Buddha" Character Script 万佛字诀 vested in QingNan AoYou 青囊奥语, unlike XKFX that only can be applied to Yang House FengShui prediction. CRITIQUESIf you were to take 2 practitioners for a field trip, one being a XKFX junkies while the other a XKLF junkies you would find that the XKFX fellow will be totally lost in transition trying to figure out the stars running across a piece of paper with 9 grids and thereafter trying to talk his way through house divination based on the 81 stars combination with total disregard of the environment. XKLF practitioners on the other hand would be versatile in screening the entire formation to not only predict the outcome of a given structure but to also suggest the proper locations of the Main Door and the Tombstone to best tap into the most current auspicious Qi, all without the need to even draw the 9 grids and to fly the stars. They are among the closest and the best XuanKong methods available in the market today. GIBBERISH OLD CRAPSYUAN KONG 6 1/2 METHODS - 26102008YUAN KONG Three Affinity Obtaining Void and Emptiness (SanYuan De KongMang) is YuanKong. WuJi born TaiJi, TaiJi obtain 2 slices, 2 slices beget 4 images, 4 images formulate 8 Gua, 8 Gua separate to 64 Gua, 64 Gua flip 384 Yao, the birth of a myriad things come from the great Void, WuJi. This is YuanKong. Think again, we were so afraid of the so called Death and Emptiness (DE). However, where is mother of all nature if it is not from Emptiness? If it is from here the myriad things are born, it is of here that the myriad things should return. This is the true reflection on Death and Emptiness. It is said that DE should not sit and face. True enough. The Qi is too pure and some extend may be too strong. Why would it said that way? If one mastered the use of the 6 Jia, DE is insignificant. SanYuan is the affinity of Heaven Earth and Man in obtaining another SanYuan of Health, Wealth and Family. This is the purpose of the Great SanYuan, fundamental of all human endeavors beneath Heaven. This is not the art of the gods, but an art of the mundane human being. Wars are fought, based on this reason. Empires are built based on this reason. Longevity is also gain on this reason. Heaven has 9 stars, Earth has 8 Gua and Human has 8 doors. Know how to use this, SanYuan is obtained. Combining the art of SanYuan, with the understanding of void and emptiness, this is YuanKong. CIXIONG Intercourses of the Yin essence with the Yang essence. Failure of comprehending Early Heaven as principle, Later Heaven as application, CiXiong will not materialize. When it is said, pure Yin, pure Yang, would one assume, how would Growing Qi be born when the Yin remains Yin and Yang remains Yang? This is the modern misconception. Whereas, what is use of Qi if it wasn’t pure? The Yin Yang dragons of the 24 mountain plate arraying the SanHe and SanYuan Luopan are varied based on what? When was it said, the mountain is Yang, water is Yin? Finally, who said the mountain is Yin and water is Yang? Not knowing this is not knowing CiXiong and not knowing CiXiong is not knowing how to use the 24 mountains. What is use of the Luopan then, be it SanHe or SanYuan? AIXING If we equate Leaning Star as AiXing, we are taking a tree instead of a forest. The principle of AiXing is the map? The application is the book? How naïve this could be? Master of the old said, arrange the 6 Jia and move the 9 dragons. What does this mean? If one fails to understand the meaning of RuGong PaiLong or entering palace, arranging dragon, save it, be it 24 mountain or 32 mountains, these are all Fei! Worst, if the debate is centralize in defining sitting star versus mountain star and water star versus facing star, absolute rubbish in discourse! JINLONG From where it comes, to where it goes, this is the golden dragon. The root verse comes from the following script of Qing Ran AoYou: - “…Dian dian dao, 24 Mountains have Treasure;Dao dao dian, 24 Mountains have Fire Pit.The Golden Dragon, Longitude and Latitude even though come with different meaning, Does it move or does it not move, all depend on the Master of Fengshui to apply…” First, one has to understand what is this dragon is all about? Why is it golden? Is it because the script is talking about Qian, being metal and being the head of the dragon? When we said a missing sector in Qian palace, does it also means to say the star AIXING would not takes it LoShu flight path and all that is to say about flying star FeiXing, would not work? Absolute rubbish! What does longitude and latitude mean? The book and the map, woven in longitude and latitude? Before it goes beyond paranoia, it simply says the use of the LuoPan to measures the 6 Jia. Knowing the 6 Jia is grossly insufficient, knowing how to use it is the treasure. Does it mean the Ling and Zhen Shen? Think about it! CHENGMEN This is the best kept secret. The magical door that required the keyword – Open Sesame, to activate? Consider, if ShengQi needs to ride, where would it be ride? Heaven has 9 stars, Earth has 8 Gua and Human has 8 gates, where are these gates and what is his castle? Mountain as principle, water as application, how does one use it? Be it 6 Jia, 64 Gua or 384 Yao, not knowing the nature of the gates of Man, Castle Gate is just another mouse trap. Think again! TAISUI The ruling Qi for the year or the guardian deity of the year? One has to understand who the host is and who the guest is. What is to be replaced and how it is to be replaced. The governing of the 20 years cycle, 10 years cycle all determined the locations of the 8 doors, opening and closing of the 8 doors. Most importantly the luck of the mansion. In conclusion, this is just a scribble of fictions and facts called, YuanKong 6 and a half method, anyone interested to learn out there? LIUFA AND FEIXING TURMOIL - SOME CONSIDERATION PLEASE - 20062008A fellow FengShui practitioner from France brought to my attention an article about the saga between flying star FengShui and the LiuFa FengShui. I read with interest unto the so called facts that had been placed forward as argument for argument sake. In the first instance these facts are beyond validation, only disciple of a certain lineage or schools could verify. So, I place my bet with these 10 arguments in mind for hopes that it may throw some new light, if any, to whom ever who read this blog, intellectually or casually.
Originally there is only 1 school. It will be quite whimsical to classify a method as time based such as SanYuan or three periods simply because time is of the essence to such a methodology. In fact, SanHe, three harmonies, the so called oldies also has their own time dimension. It will be just a folly to say BaZhai as a SanYuan methodology. It could have been a SanHe school. So, the history of FengShui must first be re-written. There is no SanHe or SanYuan. There are many lineages and sub lineages, all to their very specific purpose and use. In fact, BaZhai could have read as a macro of XuanKong DaGua, so where is the disdain fallacy? Flying Star is a relatively new method at most born out of writings from Tang Yang Wu and Shen Ju Ren. These masters may have quoted from the classics notably DiLiBianZhen to offer their views as in XuanKong BenYi and Shen Si XuanKong Xue, could these masters interpreted the classics correctly given the fact that they may not inherit the transmission from the proper lineage? Same goes with the LiuFa, where the emphasis is on the 6 method of Zhen and Ling Shen, CiXiong, Chen Men, TaiSui, AiXing and others. My question is why 6? Could have been more considerations? Magnetic North versus True North controversy. The evolution of the Chinese compass was from the sundial having the 24 mountain plate created by YangGong. Those from YangGong traditions will immediately know that the Sun is the factor. Similarly in deciding the actual timing in hour’s selection for FengShui. Food for thought. Rotation of earth moves in one direction. Rotation of Earth moves in one orbital direction. Time moves forward and never backward. How possible could a period, Yun, sometimes move forward and sometimes move backward in accordance to the Gua Yao of the particular period in question? The YangGong GuFa lineage does not recognize Yi Long Jing and Han Long Jing as written by YangGong himself. So, how could we rationalized based on these 2 classics? If bright hall should be big, then why is there a saying that to consume by the bright hall? Meaning to be drawn by the bright hall? There is a big different between the Yin dwelling and a Yang dwelling. The Yin has 1 compartment, the Yang has many. Flying star 9 palaces cannot fly in 1 compartment. So how to deal with this? Bright hall must have South Facing, meaning all South facing houses and graves must be prosperous and is that so in the practical sense? 3 elegance and 6 auspicious has many definitions. In terms of regulating water courses, there is no such a thing as many incoming but single outgoing. The notion of the incoming and outgoing water mouth must first be investigated. The constellation or asterism inclusion unto the 24 mountain plate called the seam needle in the SanHe Luopan, sometime called human plate were based on astronomical considerations invented by Lai BuYi. The old school of YangGong does not use this ring, although to some extent Lai BuYi were known to have received YangGong’s transmission from his father whom had learnt the art from YangGong’s senior disciple. Lai BuYi improvises on the system to make it for his own. The XuanKong proponent further improvises on these and called it by different terms such as XuanKong Dawuxing. So, one do not necessary need a heavenly sign to do FengShui. These points are not meant to debunk any fallacy nor a sales gimmick that may arise, but to intellectually provoke readers whom had happened to come across an article about the saga between LiuFa and Feixing. Perhaps one may drop me an email for me to direct them to the source article found in the WWW. The response of Master Hung HinCheong to our post Leaning Star Oral Secret, he wrote, “You're right. That ring's pedigree is suspect. Some Flying Stars schools don't use Replacement Stars at all, and I think that's the smart thing to do.”, caused us to think further. We dug up some of Hung’s writing – Water, Water Everywhere and there is a nugget or two for us to share here… CENTRAL AND MARGINAL FACING 正表向Hung wrote… In many FengShui texts, classical and modern, a given facing is differentiated into "Central 正向" or "Marginal 表向", and each is treated differently. In modern mathematical language, a facing is described as "Central" if it lies within a band of -±4.5° from the center-line of a Mountain on the LuoPan. For example, the center-line of Zi (子) is 0°. Hence any facing between 355.5° and 4.5° is said to be facing "Central" Zi (正子向). Another example: Gui (癸) is centered on 15°; any facing between 10.5° and 19.5° is described as facing "Central" Gui (正癸向). The total bandwidth of a "Central" facing is therefore 9°. Any facing outside that band is deemed to be a "Marginal" facing. To be more precise: Zi (子) is centered on 0°, and Gui (癸) is centered on 15°. Any facing in between 4.5° and 10.5° is called "Marginal" between Zi and Gui (子兼癸,癸兼子). The total bandwidth of a "Marginal" facing is 6°. That of course is the modern definition, making use of the 360° compass ring at the periphery of the LuoPan disc. However, this ring was a relatively recent addition to the LuoPan. Before that, the definition of "Marginal" relied on the "240 Dragons Gold Divisions (二百四+龍分金)", and the term "3-7 Gold Divisions (三七分金)" was often quoted. Some readers may have come across this term in their general reading. As a matter of fact, the 6° bandwidth for "Marginal" was set conservatively. It allowed a generous margin for error, mindful that the LuoPan needle and markings were not very accurate in the old days. My own view is that we need not be so uptight about the prescribed margins. The underlying idea is to get away from the boundary line between 2 Mountains, and our modern LuoPan enables us to do that with greater confidence. ASSISTANT STAR WATER METHOD 後天水法Hung wrote... For a variety of reasons, a facing may have to be set within the "Marginal" band. In that event, it is necessary to be aware that the "Marginal" band is usable for certain Mountains, but not for others. In a nutshell, the "Marginal" band between 2 adjacent Mountains of the same polarity is usable, whereas the band is out of bounds if the 2 adjacent Mountains are of opposite polarities. However, there are 2 exceptions to the rule: Xun (巽) and Si (巳) are both Yin Mountains, but the "Marginal" band between them is out of bounds. The reasoning is a little convoluted: Si (巳) is part of the NaJia family of the Trigram Dui (兌), and You (西) is another member of the same family. Now You (西) and Xun (巽) are incompatible by the "8 Killing Forces" formula. Si (巳) is implicated by virtue of its family connection with You (西). Hence a facing in between Xun (巽) and Si (巳) is deemed too risky; The same argument applies to the band between the adjacent Mountains You (西) and Xin(辛). In this case, Xin(辛)is the adopted child of Xun (巽), and hence the "Marginal" band between You (西) and Xin(辛)also becomes inadmissible. This discussion on admissibility of "Marginal" bands takes on a new dimension when it comes to measuring Qi mouth locations to determine the incoming and outgoing waters. Whereas a facing is an axis that can be set precisely, a Qi mouth is something 3 over which we have very little control. It is fairly common to encounter a Qi mouth wide enough to straddle over 2 adjacent Mountains. There is no issue if the 2 Mountains are of the same polarity, but what if they are not? Going strictly by the book, such water flows are deemed negative. The jargon term is "Yin and Yang confused (陰陽差錯)'. But such a narrow interpretation is unduly restrictive in practice. I tend to take a more liberal approach. If the major part of the qi mouth, say 70% or more, falls under One Mountain, I would consider it a single Mountain reading, comparable to a "Central" facing. Only if the qi mouth sits smack in between 2 adjacent Mountains, with a 50-50 or 60-40 split between yin and yang, would I reject it as unsuitable. 240 DRAGONS GOLD DIVISION 二百四+龍分金Hung wrote… In a typical SanHe LuoPan, there are the 72-Dragons ring (also called a plate), one or more 60-Dragons rings; and one or two 120-Dragons rings. There is one other ring in this genre that is omitted on LuoPan other than out-sized ones (12-inch and above). This is the 240-Dragons ring, also called "240-Dragons Gold Divisions (二百四+龍分金). As the name suggests, the ring is sub-divided into 240 fine divisions, with 10 divisions under each of the 24 Mountains. This ring is used to assess the intensity of qi received from a particular Mountain for any given facing. A Mountain's Qi is strongest at its center-line, gradually reducing to zero at the center-line of the adjacent Mountain on either side. At the boundary between 2 Mountains, the qi split is 50-50. If a given facing receives 70% or more of the qi from one Mountain, it is called a "Central facing (正向)". If the facing receives less than 70% qi from one Mountain (say, a 60-40 or 50-50 split between 2 adjacent Mountains), it is called a "Marginal facing (表向)”. Today, the demarcation between "Central" and "Marginal" can be defined using the 360° compass ring at the periphery of the modern LuoPan, but this ring was a relatively recent addition; it was not available in the older LuoPan. So do we still have to bother with the 240-Dragons when we have the modern 360° ring? That depends: no need if we just want to use the LuoPan without bothering with the underlying theory; yes if we want to broaden our FengShui knowledge. If one reads old texts or spends time surfing the FengShui websites, then familiarity with the "240-Dragons Gold Divisions" will provide a deeper insight into various discussions. To analyze the 240-Dragons ring, let us straighten out 2 arc segments, each segment spanning 30°. The first segment is centered on Zi (子) with Ren(壬) at one end and Gui (癸) at the 4 others. The second segment is centered on Gui (癸) with Zi (子) at one end and Chou (丑) at the other. The segments overlap, and the fine divisions are graded with a numerical value rising from 0 to 10 and then falling back to 0. The dashed lines 7-3 and 3-7 demarcate between "Central" and "Marginal" facings. The region between those 2 lines, marked by a hatched box, represents the "Marginal" band between Zi (子) and Gui (癸) Mountains. There are similar "Marginal" bands between Ren(壬) and Zi (子); and between Gui (癸) and Chou (丑). The scale in maroon at the bottom denotes the modern 360° compass, whereby the center of Zi (子) Mountain corresponds to 0° Magnetic North. The "Marginal" band between Zi (子) and Gui (癸) would correspond with 7.5±3° on this scale. One often sees the term "3-7 Gold Divisions also called "Plus Minus 3-7 (三七分金)", in FengShui books and websites. It really means nothing more the demarcations described above. Some people like to use complicated language to describe simple ideas. Sometimes the term "2-8 Gold Divisions (二八分金)" or "Plus Minus 2-8 (二八加減)" also appears, often in the same breath as "3-7". When one compares the Earth Plate with the Heaven Plate, it will be seen that "3-7" on the Earth Plate is in fact the same line as "2-8" on the Heaven Plate, and vice versa. They are really one and the same thing. According to Master Li Ding Xin (李定信), who was until recently the reigning Doyen of Yang Gong FengShui [He passed away in 2012, age 90], many FengShui writers, historical and modern, are confused and use the terms haphazardly. So the next time someone comes along brandishing jargon terms like "Plus Minus 3-7" and "Plus Minus 2-8", just ask him about the "240-Dragons". LEANING STAR REPLACEMENT STAR 飞星替星This marginal degree of 3° at each extreme side closer to the boundary of the two mountains that made up the 6° are considered by some SanYuan FeiXing as Replacement Star band. Any star that reside thereafter must be replaced by the set of new stars as represented in the Replacement Star Ring. Some school of XuanKong Purple White do not subscribe to this principle. Some school also do not agree with the version of the Replacement Star Ring used, currently at 28 varieties. This Replacement Star Ring is interesting. In total you will get the following sequence from the opposite mountains combined: -
The question is could this Ring tells you something beyond just the greatly misunderstood Kun Ren Yi? HOW TO APPLY?For example, House sitting Gui 23 degree, facing Ding, Period 8. By conventional Natal chart, you will get as in A. However, because 23 degree sitting very close to Chou, a Replacement Star may be necessary. Based on the Replacement Star Ring, Sitting Gui replacement shall be 1 replacing 4. Facing Ding replacement shall be 9 replacing 3. The new Replacement Natal chart shall look like B. CONCLUSIONContemplate this, quote from BengKung's wisdom saying, "The four formations, Water, Fire, Metal and Wood are further differentiated into Yin and Yang formations. Clockwise which is Yang, the direction is from Zi to Chou to Xu to Hai. Anti-clockwise which is Yin, the direction is from Wu to Si to Shen to Wei. Altogether there are 8 formations. 4 Yang and 4 Yin formations. Master Yang always stressed on the basic principle of Yin and Yang. YinYang is formless whereas CiXiong refers to Yin Yang with form. Interaction of CiXiong refers to the interaction between mountain and water. Xuan Kong refers to the Qi whether Sheng Qi (thriving) or Si Qi (Dead). The auspicious or inauspicious Qi from the In-Coming mountain or Out-Going water are related and are based on the 12 Qi phase. Whether it is male/Yang or female/Yin, it is derived from within the Gua. This is referring to the Yin and Yang of the 24 mountains. This is only given to inner disciples."
Therefore, if you believe that the YinYang Earth Plate of the SanHe LuoPan Ring, as assigned by virtue of Early Heaven and NaJia is correct, you better think twice! The YinYang Earth Plate of the SanHe LuoPan Ring, as assigned by virtue of Early Heaven and NaJia is mainly used for RuDiYan's Assistant Star Water Method. "The concept of mountain (in-coming Qi) and water (out-going Qi) which is fundamental and must be understood clearly. Whether it is auspicious or inauspicious are all due to the mountain and water location in relation to the concept of the 12 Qi phase. The mountain here refers to In-Coming and water refers to Out-Going. A concept misinterpreted as actual mountain and actual water." Do you know why the why the Five Ghost Carry Treasure aka Assistant Star Water Method cannot work? Placing "mountains" on LianZhen position? "To understand this methodology, it is all within the concept of the 5 elements. This concept refers to NaYin 5 elements which is established by the 72 dragons. It is not referring to NaJia which is a different concept. The five elements are allocated in the four directions with Wood in the East, Metal in the West, Water in the North and Fire in the South. It is also allocated in the 24 mountains. The concept of turning upside down 倒倒颠 refers to the 72 dragons, where there are five elements within each of the 24 mountains. With the concept of turning upside down, there are treasures within each of the 24 mountains. There are always three elements within the 24 mountains which is usable to match the in-coming Qi and water-mouth which is the out-going Qi. Forward and backward refers to the understanding of establishing the Yin or Yang formation. Without using the correct formation there is the likelihood of meeting with fire pits. Recognize the golden dragon is to establish the formation. Metal, Wood, Fire or Water. The location and the position in relation to the water mouth and the in-coming dragons are all different. (Endless possibilities) Moving or still refers to whether there is any Qi, whether it is strong Qi or weak Qi, whether it is auspicious or inauspicious Qi. Requires the teaching from a sage." In fact, there are plenty of clues that RuDiYan may be a bridge between SanHe and SanYuan. Replacement Star and its corresponding central and marginal reading may not be that wrong after all, if we were to take the actual reasons of 3/7 and 2/8 as the measurement of Qi intensity accordingly and not for the account of inaccurate LuoPan readings. As for the validity of the Replacement Star Ring, it has been grossly misunderstood as part of Kun Ren Yi by Jiang DaHung. He distorted and explained these verses using XuanKong DaGua thus introducing the idea of combination to 10. Coupled with the variants from the SanHe proponent, you now have the 28 confusing versions. Most modern SanYuan LuoPan in the market has this ring inserted just after the 24 mountain "human plate" of the SanYuan LuoPan. This is one notorious ring that was believed to have been "invented" by Jiang DaHung and being used by the XuanKong Shen JuReng Flying Star school as - the Replacement Star Ring 替星盘. Obviously it is a result of Jiang DaHung's secret oral transmission that has been reflected as a Ring, called the Leaning Star Ring 挨星盘. Different subset school of SanYuan has different way to use the Leaning Star Ring 挨星盘. Unfortunately, Leaning Star Ring 挨星盘 itself has another 28 versions. Which one is TRUE? JIANG DAHUNG AIXING JUEDuring the old age of Jiang DaHung, he has the intention to settle down prior to his retirement. One of his disciple, Jiang YaoShi 姜垚時 gave him a large sum of money to build his retirement home. Due to his student's generosities, he return the favor by disclosing these 10 stanzas of Leaning Star. In the Shen JuReng's XuanKong Flying Star 沈竹礽飞星派 school, this is known as the Replacement Star 替星. It was also conveniently translated into SanYuan LuoPan ring just after the 24 mountains.
OTHERS VERSIONS AIXING JUEWhen you browse Google there are at least another 27 versions of AiXing Jue 挨星訣 inclusive the one mentioned above as the 1st there are altogether 28 versions, such as: -

COMMENTARYWithin the 28 versions of this Leaning Star verse, 2 distinctive version stood out: -
May the real Mc Coy please stand up? Unlike its counterpart SanHe, SanYuan leaning star means Yang - Lean Forward and Yin - Lean Backward. Leaning forward also means that the star in this case LoShu take the forward flight path and Leaning backward means the LoShu take a reverse flight path. This is how the SanYuan school intepreted the use of YinYang of the 24 mountain "Human" Plate of the SanYuan LuoPan. Therefore, they are also termed, Yin YangYang and Yang YinYin in arithmetical connotation such as +--, -++. Such is also magnified by Jiang DaHung when he commented in DiLi BianZhen as the followings: -
One question, is this a TRUE SANYUAN? |
